As work behind the scenes rolls on, excitement is building for the September 2nd to 4th event. Here are some of the announcements coming from Speedway 660 in regards to Speedweekend 2016. A.E. McKay Builders Partners with Speedway 660 to Present Speedweekend Sportsman 150 Speedway 660 is excited to announce that A.E. McKay Builders will be the title sponsor for the Sportsman 150 on Saturday, September 3rd. The race will now be called the A.E. McKay Builders 150. Located in Quispamsis, New Brunswick, A.E. McKay Builders specializes in custom built residential homes that have made them a preferred builder in the Kennebecasis Valley. Andrew McKay is a major supporter of stock car racing throughout Atlantic Canada. The A.E. McKay Builders race team fields three cars throughout the season, two Pro Stocks and a Sportsman car, all three of which will be present at Speedweekend 2016 at Speedway 660. The A.E. McKay Builders 150 attracts top Sportsman teams to Speedway 660 to take part in one of the longest races and one of the most prestigious races for the division in Atlantic Canada. Typically, the field is littered with Pro Stock drivers who attempt to pull off “the double” by winning both major races Speedweekend has to offer. While there is no official entry list for the A.E. McKay Builders 150, fans could see the likes of Lonnie Sommerville, Dave O’Blenis and A.E. McKay Builders driver Sarah McKay try to win both the A.E. McKay Builders 150 and the McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250 in 2016. No driver has won both major events in the same Speedweekend. O’Blenis has owned this event on track as of late, winning three of the last four A.E. McKay Builders 150 on Speedweekend. The #48 Burger King Camry has won both major extra distance Sportsman races this season at Speedway 660 – the Martin’s Home Heating 125 and the Clark Chevrolet 150. Tucker Appraisals Brings the Atlantic Modified Tour to Speedway 660 on Speedweekend The Atlantic Modified Tour is coming back to Speedway 660 for their third straight appearance on Speedweekend. Tucker Appraisals has stepped up to become official marketing partner of the Atlantic Modified Tour in their only appearance of the year at Speedway 660. The Saturday, September 3rd race for the series will now be known as the Tucker Appraisals 35. Tucker Appraisals is a residential appraisal business serving the Fredericton and surrounding area with over 25 years of experience. Multi-time champion Mike “Sparky” Raeburn (Hampton, NB) and Atlantic Modified Tour standout Cody Price have won the last two events held for the series on Speedweekend. Modern Electric Returns For Halfway Challenge in McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250 Modern Electric has continued their longstanding partnership with the Halfway Challenge in the McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250. The Modern Electric Halfway Challenge will pay a cool $1,000 to the driver who leads Lap 125 in the marquee event of Speedweekend. Last season, Cassius Clark of Farmington, Maine took the Modern Electric Halfway Challenge en route to his win in the McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250. The Lap Leaderboard continues to fill with many laps still available for purchase. Laps for the 2016 McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250 are available for $50 each. Monday Capital City Auto Parts Enduro 200 Canceled After two unsuccessful attempts to run the Capital City Auto Parts Enduro 200 this season, the third and final event of the season, scheduled for Monday, September 5th, has also been canceled due to low car count for the event. Teams that are interested in helping to revive the Enduro series for 2017 are asked to contact the Speedway with ideas for next year. Speedway 660 is one of Canada’s premier stock car racing facilities. Located in New Brunswick’s Fredericton region, it attracts race teams and fans from the Maritimes, New England and Quebec. The Speedway 660 racing season runs from mid-May until Labour Day Weekend. SpeedWeekend, one of the most prestigious short track events in eastern North America, wraps up Speedway 660’s racing season.
