Speedway Miramichi Unveils 50th Anniversary Schedule March 6, 2018 Regional MIRAMICHI, NB – Speedway Miramichi management is thrilled to release the 2018 schedule of events, consisting of six dates for stock car racing and demolition action. The historic 1/3 mile oval, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2018, will have action in Street Stock, Mini Stock, and Demolition classes. In addition, the much-anticipated return of the Dukes class will finally happen during the 2018 season. While the dates have yet to be finalized, the Atlantic Modified Tour is also expected to contest a healthy number of events in Miramichi. “This is the 50th year, and we plan on making it the best ever,” said track owner Barry Richard. “The increased interest in Street Stock this year, and all the other classes that have gotten stronger in the last 3 years will make race night a can’t miss night in Miramichi.” Notable events include 2 major Street Stock races, which will bookend the 2018 season. The first of such races will be on opening day, May 26th, with a 100-lap race for the popular division to kick off the tracks 50th year. On October 13th, the anticipated Atlantic Canada stock car finale, the Chi City Showdown will return and build off a successful 2017 event. More details will be announced in the future regarding the 2018 Chi City Showdown. For the 35th time in the tracks 50-year history, points champions will be crowned at the speedway. Drivers in all classes will compete for the points championship, with the dramatic championship day being held on September 15th. Winning a championship would put drivers on an elite list of “who’s who” in Miramichi racing, joining notable track champions Terry Russell, Brad Mann, Lindsay Tozer, Ricky Buckley, Derek Goodwin, Brad MacLean, and Robert Legere among others who have accomplished the feat at Speedway Miramichi. Speedway Miramichi recently extended the deadline to purchase season passes at the discounted price of $50. Passes are valid for grandstand admission, but anyone with a season pass can upgrade to a pit pass at a cost of just $5 per event.
