Speedway 660 Starting Season With Double-Header Weekend May 27, 2022 Regional Speedway 660 will attempt to lift the curtain on their 2022 season this weekend with two packed racing cards over two days. The previously postponed Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener featuring the Pro Stock 100 will be run on Saturday afternoon, May 28th. On Sunday, Steele GMC Buick presents Kids Day with a visit from the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour for the Samuel, Son and Co. 50. The Bandoleros will also join the Sunday card along with a full card of house divisions. Racing on both Saturday and Sunday starts at 2 p.m. Anticipation is high for the racing season at the Geary, New Brunswick oval, especially after the annual pre-season practice day held on Saturday, May 14. Inclement weather rolled in overnight and stalled over the Capital Region, preventing the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener from being completed as scheduled. The excitement has been carried over for the past two weeks to what is now a Saturday season opener featuring 100-laps for the RE/MAX East Coast Elite Realty Pro Stock division. The Late Model Sportsman (50 Laps), the Shur-Fit Auto Parts, Bumper to Bumper Street Stocks (40 Laps) will have extra laps on their Saturday features with the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters kicking off Saturday’s feature action with 25-laps of four cylinder action! The entry list for the Pro Stock 100 as a part of the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener is still a solid dozen drivers that have countless race wins and championships throughout Atlantic Canada and beyond on their resumes. Wyatt Alexander (Ellsworth, ME) is making a return engagement this weekend and will battle the likes of Lonnie Sommerville (Barnesville, NB), Dave O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB), Ryan Messer (Harvey, NB), Kevin Moore (Fredericton, NB), Devin Snell (Saint John, NB) and more over 100 green flag laps of competition on Saturday. Sunday’s Steele GMC Buick Kids Day is one of the most popular events of the season at Speedway 660! In addition to racing action in all four house divisions, there will be an autograph session taking place at 1pm prior to the green flag flying for qualifying at 2pm. Following the INEX portion of the show with Bandolero and Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour action, the St. Louis Bar and Grill Fredericton Intermission will see the return of the fan favorite Candy Scramble along with the Fan Experience Contest. It is truly an afternoon at the races the whole family will enjoy with something for everyone. The Bandolero division will make its first of three appearances of the season on Sunday. Powered by a 30 horsepower Briggs & Stratton Vanguard motor and rolling around on Hoosier Racing Tires, the drivers can get their start at age eight. Several young stars are looking to make the trip up for the first time in 2022 to compete with a handful of local teams as the track looks to build the class back into their house division fold for future seasons. For the sixth straight season, children aged 15 and under will be admitted to the grandstands for free to every stock car event at Speedway 660. The admission structure makes it easier for families to attend race events at the track and received positive feedback from fans when implemented mid-season in 2017. Adult grandstand admission prices, per day, are $20 (aged 16 and up). Pit admission is $25 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Tickets are available at the gate on race day. New in 2022, all those entering the pit gates must complete their insurance waiver online prior to heading to the track.. This can be done on any smart phone and takes seconds to complete. The link to the form can be found on Speedway660.com under the “Race Team Information” menu or by going to Speedway660.speedwaiver.com Pit gates for competitors will open at 9am on both Saturday and Sunday, grandstand gates open for spectators at 12:30pm, the Steele GMC Kids Day Autograph Session is at 1pm on Sunday with racing getting underway at 2pm both days. An open practice for Legend competitors will follow the Saturday racing card. A complete race day format will be available via the track’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/Speedway660.
