Season Finale This Saturday at Petty International Raceway October 9, 2015 Regional RIVER GLADE, NB – Petty International Raceway will close the 2015 stock car racing season on Saturday. The Leisure Days RV Center Bandolero, Mister Transmission Mini Stock and CMax Street Stock divisions will all crown season long champions in extended lap features while the Sportsman division will contest a 100-lap non-point event. With extended features on the table, the car count is expected to grow with cars from across the region having one more shot at glory on the high banks of Petty International Raceway. The green flag on Saturday’s event drops at 4 p.m. The Leisure Days RV Center Bandoleros will contest Twin 25 lap features to close off their season presented by St. Louis Bar and Grill Moncton. Lyttleton’s Ashton Tucker holds the point lead in the class by 20 points over Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS). Langille has been battling all season long with Austin MacDonald (Pictou, NS) and they, along with Michael Cormier (Grand Barachois) will battle for second in the standings with just two points separating them. Nathan Blackburn (Timberlea, NS) sits fifth in the standings. Mike Weagle (Salisbury) will look to lock down the Mister Transmission Mini Stock championship Saturday as he enters with a nine point lead on multi-time Nova Scotia Four Cylinder champion Tim Webster (Beaver Bank, NS). Webster will have no time to rest though as he has Rob Poirier (Irishtown) behind him by just two points for the second place spot in the standings. Poirier is the leading rookie in the class and will look to lock down the top freshmen honors in the class. Eugene Weagle (Salisbury), Rob Boutilier (Quispamsis) and Patricia Taylor (Petitcodiac) will enter the extended 50-lap Mister Transmission Mini Stock feature with fourth place in the standings in mind. Weagle enters with a one point advantage on Boutilier and two points on Taylor. Gary Tingley (Colpitts Settlement) has 75-laps standing between him and the CMAX Street Stock division title on Saturday afternoon. Tingley has a four point advantage on reigning division champion Ken Mackenzie Jr (Salisbury). No point lead is safe in the class and with 75-laps to run, anything is possible. Sophomore Nick Cudmore (Salisbury) enters just 10 points out of Tingley in the championship standings with Shawn Lewis (Salisbury) and Bob Prosser (Moncton) completing the top five. Luc Bourgeois (Memramcook) has wrapped up the Sportsman championship at Petty International Raceway. Bourgeois will look to defend his home turf from many other Sportsman competitors that are set to quest for the final checkered flag of the season at the track in the 100-lap finale, including Laurie Cormier (Riverview), who has won the two most recent Sportsman races at Petty Raceway. Pit gates for competitors participating in the Season Finale event open at 11 a.m. Grandstand gates for spectators open at 2 p.m. with racing getting underway at 4 p.m. Adult admission to the grandstands is $20, youth admission (ages eight to 18) is $10 while children seven and under are admitted free of charge. Pit admission is $25. Tickets can be purchased at the gate on race day.
