HALIFAX, NS – Champions and Rookies will be crowned in all divisions this Saturday afternoon at Scotia Speedworld. The Halifax 300 will be the last race of the 2024 season for the Bay Equipment Rentals Weekly Racing Series. All divisions will be on track Saturday afternoon, please note this is a 2:00 pm start time.

In its second year, the Halifax 300 provides each of the Bay Equipment Rentals Weekly Racing Series divisions a chance to shine in extended feature races. In total, 300 laps of feature racing are scheduled to be completed over the five classes on Saturday afternoon, anchored by a 136-lap Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman feature – a true test of man and machine!

The Halifax 300 also will see the final point race of the season and champions crowned. After a long 2024 season, several drivers have an easy task on Saturday afternoon – start both their heat and feature and pass post-race technical inspection and they have won a track championship. The only close battle will be the one that starts the Halifax 300 on Saturday as Addison Veinotte (Porters Lake) enters with a slim three-point advantage on Shelby Chisholm (Antigonish) in the Bluenose Pools Beginner division. Both drivers come from families with storied histories in Maritime motorsports and will be a battle that is sure to have fans on the edge of their seats.

For Bella Pashkoski (Beaver Bank; Bluenose Pools Bandoleros), Ross Moore (Lake Egmont; Toursec Mini Stocks) and Russell Smith Sr (Lakeside; Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman), the task is easy – start all events on Saturday and capture a track championship. For Pashkoski, she is looking to clinch her first track title with a 29-point advantage on Avery DeCoste (Antigonish). Moore will clinch his second consecutive Toursec Mini Stock track title with an 87-point advantage over 13 meets. Smith Sr. returned to full-time competition for the first time in nearly two decades and must finish 23rd or better in the 136-lap Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman feature with a 55-point advantage over Superior Foundations Sportsman Race winner Darren Hilchie (Lake Charlotte).

Last week, Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction) clinched the Strictly Hydraulics Legends track championship as he has an insurmountable 150-point lead after 15 races. Only 26 points separate second place Chase Livingston (Springhill) and fifth place Caden Tufts (Timberlea) with Josh Langille (Coldbrook) and Campbell Delaney (Halifax) in the thick of the battle for the runner-up spot in the championship. Of note, Christensen is tied for the International INEX Semi-Pro point lead and has a chance to win a historic world title in October at Dominion Raceway in Virginia.

Three drivers have clinched Tim Hortons at the Airport Rookie of the Year titles. Chad Sinton (Truro; Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman), Peter Brown (Antrim; Toursec Mini Stocks), and Addison Veinotte (Bluenose Pools Beginners) have already achieved their goals as the top newcomers in their respective divisions. The Strictly Hydraulics Legends sees Jared Slaunwhite (Terence Bay) with a comfortable 42-point lead on Bandolero graduates Brett Pashkoski (Beaver Bank) and 45 points on Daniel Vandenburg (Lower Onslow).

With point battles throughout, and the top 10 (that meet attendance eligibility) in championship points being honored at the season-ending banquet on November 23 in Truro and the final checkered flags of the year on the line – there is plenty to fight for Saturday in Halifax.
