Save the Dates – Petty International Raceway Schedule Announced February 15, 2017 Regional RIVER GLADE, NB – Management for Petty International Raceway are excited to announce their stock car racing schedule for the 2017 season. The schedule features 11 racing cards over eight weekends from May to September and features house divisions and touring series that are sure to please fans. The track opens for the season on Saturday, May 27 with the Canadian National Autism Foundation (CNAF) Kids Race presented by Acura of Moncton. In their eighth season across the country, the CNAF Kids Race is a platform for autism research and awareness. This marks the first time a CNAF Kids Race has been held in the province of New Brunswick. All Petty International Raceway house divisions will race at the event, including the Limited Late Models (Sportsman), Westwood Estates Street Stocks, Mister Transmission Mini Stocks, Leisure Days RV Bandoleros, Women on Wheels and the Atlantic Modifieds. All divisions will run for double points on the day, the first of two such events on the season. The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will visit Petty International Raceway three times. The June 10 and July 22 dates will see the series contest 150-lap affairs while the Saturday, August 26 stop on the 53rd Jones Auto Body River Glade International weekend will be a 200-lap feature – one of four features over 150-laps in length for the series in 2017. Friday, July 21 and Friday, August 25 will see racing the night prior to the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour appearances on Saturday evening. July 21 will see championship point racing with a Limited Late Model 100 as the main attraction. The August 25 card will kick off Jones Auto Body River Glade International weekend with 125-laps for the Limited Late Models, the longest race for the class of the season. The Westwood Estates Street Stocks and Mister Transmission Mini Stocks will play support on both of those Friday night cards. The popular MetalCore/DR Scrap Metals Night of Destruction returns for a third consecutive season on Saturday, July 8. A Demolition Derby will close the event that will feature a full card of stock car racing which will include the Limited Late Models, Atlantic Modifieds, Westwood Estates Street Stocks, Mister Transmission Mini Stocks and Leisure Days RV Bandoleros. The Fifth Annual Caleb Dunn Memorial sees a few changes in 2017. The event will stay on the New Brunswick Day long weekend in August but will see a move to Saturday night, August 5. The race will serve as the Mid Season Championships at Petty International Raceway with double points in all house divisions. Prior to racing, the young fans in the stands will be able to come down to the race track for Kiddie Rides with the cars and stars of the show. Saturday, September 9 will serve as the point championship finale at Petty International Raceway with five divisions crowning season long titlists. In a twist for the final point night, four classes will run twin features with each feature event paying pivotal championship points. The Limited Late Models will run a pair of 50-lap features, the Westwood Estates Street Stocks will take to the track in two 25-lap mains, the Mister Transmission Mini Stocks will excite fans twice in 20-lap blasts while the Leisure Days RV Bandoleros will hit the track twice on the evening for 15-lap events. The newly formed Maritime Mini Stock Tour will also contest a 50-lap feature on September 9. The Mike Stevens Memorial 200 Weekend presented by R Stevens Mechanical and Carnahan Property Management will wrap up the Petty International Raceway season on Friday, September 22 and Saturday, September 23. Friday evening will see a Street Stock 75 presented by Westwood Estates, the finale in the Petty Raceway series for the Atlantic Modifieds and Women on Wheels along with non point features for the Mister Transmission Mini Stock and Leisure Days RV Bandolero divisions. The late models take centre stage on Saturday, September 23 with two big events. The super late models will take to the track in the Mike Stevens Memorial 200 while the limited late model class will close the year with a 75-lap non point feature. The Maritime League of Legends Tour will make two stops to Petty International Raceway in 2017, up from a single race in 2016, with 50-lpa features on July 22 and August 26. 2017 Petty International Raceway Schedule of Events Schedule is subject to change without notice. In addition to the 2017 schedule, Petty International Raceway has also made a number of other announcements in advance of the new season. The Atlantic Modifieds will have a home in 2017 at Petty International Raceway. The division, which began as a touring series in 2003, will have five races scattered throughout the Petty International Raceway schedule and will compete for a track championship in those five races. These events will also count for points on the Atlantic Modified Tour. Westwood Estates have come on board to join the Petty International Raceway family of marketing partners to boost the Street Stock division in 2017. While they will sponsor the full Street Stock schedule, they will also become the presenting partner of the Westwood Estates Street Stock Triple Crown. The three-race series will have its own point championship and will crown a championship over the three extended distance races for the class. The Junior Fan program will return in the 2017 season. During all 11 Petty International Raceway events, a Junior Fan will be selected from the crowd and will be able to take a ride around the high banked oval with their favorite driver during the intermission.
