Revamped Point System & Payouts Announced for Petty Int’l Raceway March 27, 2019 Regional RIVER GLADE, NB – Management for Petty International Raceway is excited to announce changes to the championship point structure. Along with a change to how the point champion in four house divisions will be crowned, the champion will walk away with an increased payday over previous seasons for their efforts in 2019. Starting in 2019, drivers in the A.E. McKay Builders Late Model Sportsman, Street Stock, Mister Transmission Mini Stock and Leisure Days RV Bandolero divisions will count their best seven point finishes toward the championship standings. The quartet of divisions each have ten point races over the racing season, meaning if a driver has a bad race they can still be within the championship conversation. With teams having busy lives outside of the race track and the short months that an Atlantic Canadian summer consists of, the structure allows teams to be able to miss a race should they have to for whatever reason and still be a part of chasing a coveted track championship. In addition, the field in those four classes will be chasing a payout that will be handed out to the champion along with their trophy at the end of the year. The A.E. McKay Builders Late Model Sportsman champion will receive a $2,000 bonus, the Street Stock titlist will pocket a cool $1,000, the Mister Transmission Mini Stock champion will take home $500 while the Leisure Days RV Bandolero winner will take home a merchandise prize to be announced as the season draws closer. In addition to adding their name to the list of champions at Petty International Raceway, the augmented purse for the champion only adds to the spoils as the season long winner. The point structure for the Kings County Performance Women on Wheels and Modified divisions will remain the same as previous seasons with all races counting towards crowning their Petty International Raceway track champion. The A.E. McKay Builders Late Model Sportsman and Street Stock classes will kick off their season on Saturday, May 18th at 4pm with the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock and East Coast Mini Stock Tours. The two house divisions will join the Mister Transmission Mini Stock, Leisure Days RV Bandolero, Kings County Performance Women on Wheels and the Atlantic Modified Tour on Saturday, June 1st at 4pm for the Canadian National Autism Foundation (CNAF) Kids Race for their lid lifter on the 2019 season.
