Powder Puff Points Added to Speedway Miramichi ’21 Roster May 4, 2021 Regional Speedway Miramichi Announces Powder Puff Points Championship After experiencing record-breaking fields in 2020, Speedway Miramichi is expanding the Powder Puff division with the exciting announcement that the speedway will present the inaugural Powder Puff points championship in 2021. For the first time ever, a girls-only championship will be contested through the Powder Puff races contested as part of each Demolition points event at Speedway Miramichi. Tentatively six events will compromise the Powder Puff championship, with a race at each Demo starting with the Spring Smash on May 15 and wrapping up with the crowning of the first-ever Powder Puff champion on October 2 at The Very Best Fall Shootout as part of the Demolition Blowout. Each race is slated to be a minimum of 10 laps. The action promises to be intense at each event with a great crop of drivers expected to compete. Overall the entire system will be quite simple, as standard Demolition rules will apply. Drivers will have the option of bringing their own car specifically for the Powder Puff race, or using a car entered into the overall Demolition competition. Powder Puff races will still count as a qualifier for the final Demolition, and points towards the overall Demolition championship will still be up for grabs. However, the stakes will be raised even higher as any driver who finishes in the top 3 will have to start from the rear of the field at their next race – which is sure to make the action exciting as car counts continue to grow! Tania Jean is the most recent Powder Puff winner after grabbing the win at the Easter Bunny Bash. In recent years, Sam Jardine and Amber Sickles have dominated Powder Puff competition, with the duo sweeping all races in 2020. Their wins have not come without challenge from the likes of Krysta Sickles, Georgia Estey, Monique Benoit, Candace Sherrard, Chelsea Bowran and others, along with ringers from the stock car divisions entering some races including Chantel Ackles and Samantha Blakely. Many other ladies have been taking to the track lately, and the addition of a points championships is sure to raise the stakes and bring even more onto the track! There will be no need to register in advance, as points will go to the driver and drivers will be recorded prior to the event.
