One Extra Spot Available for Street Stock Showdown, Format Set April 18, 2017 Regional CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The promoter of the inaugural Discover KIA Maritime Street Stock Showdown at Oyster Bed Speedway on June 24 has just announced they will accept one more entry – as well the qualifying format. With 43 cars already registered and the 44th a certainty, the format will determine a 30-car starting grid for the 100-lap feature. Racers who haven’t already registered and want to be on a wait list should email event promoter Tom Nicholls at showdown2017@gmail.com or call him at 902-940-3552. Nicholls explains the wait list and extra spot by acknowledging that “things happen, engines get blown, money gets tight, work and family commitments occur. We can foresee possible future withdrawals due to circumstances.” If spots open up then Nicholls will fill them from the names on his wait list. As for the format, there will be three rounds of qualifying for the 100-lap feature: 1) Time Trials – fastest four advance; 2) Heat Races – 10 cars per race x 15 laps, top five advance (24 cars in); and 3) Last Chance Qualifier – 20 cars will run 25 laps with the top six advancing to the feature (30 car starting grid). The remaining 14 cars will be finished for the night. Nicholls is also pleased to announce that All Star Cresting will be hand for the event offering limited edition inaugural event t-shirts with the option of having your favourite driver’s car number heat pressed on the shirt, on site.
