Mini Stock Tour Kicks Off Season Saturday at Scotia Speedworld May 19, 2022 Regional The Passione Flooring & Interiors East Coast Mini Stock Tour begins its search for a 2022 champion this Saturday, May 21st at Scotia Speedworld. The A-Pak Drywall & Acoustical 50 is Round One of 10 on the Maritime road trip for the top Four Cylinder cars and stars in the region. The action begins at 4 pm on Saturday. Everyone will be chasing Dave Matthews (Kennetcook, NS) heading into Saturday’s A-Pak Drywall & Acoustical 50. Matthews is the two-time and reigning champion of the Series after picking up the championship title in 2021. While the competition in the Series has been elevated in recent years, especially with the addition of new makes and models of four-cylinder cars, Matthews has remained at the front. With a mix of different tracks on the schedule this season, Matthews will have to rekindle the consistency he found in 2021 to become the first three-time champion of the Passione Flooring & Interiors East Coast Mini Stock Tour. Matt Watson (Miscouche, PE) enters as one of Matthews biggest competitors on Saturday at Scotia Speedworld. In his first trip to the track last September, Watson was able to pick up a victory in his No. 27. Watson is an accomplished Mini Stock competitor and will be an early favorite to contend at Atlantic Motorsports Park in July when the Series takes to the road course for their first race at the facility. The question remains – can Watson put together a full season to upend the title streak of Matthews?! Scotia Speedworld 2021 Toursec Thunder runner-up Jason Pickles (Meaghers Grant, NS), James Sample and JLS Autosport (Antigonish, NS) and Tour freshmen Tyler Hallahan (Elmsdale, NS) and Dylan MacMillan (Maitland, NS) have also signaled their intentions to compete on Saturday. While pre-registration is not necessary, it is expected a handful of Thunder and Lightning competitors will be out to shake down their cars prior to their regular-season opener at Scotia Speedworld. Over a dozen competitors are expected to compete on Saturday during the A-Pak Drywall and Acoustical 50. With the first two races of the Passione Flooring & Interiors East Coast Mini Stock Tour happening in Nova Scotia, we may see a contender or two emerge for the championship not currently on our radars prior to heading on the road to New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. While a championship cannot be won on May 21st at Scotia Speedworld or June 11th at Riverside Speedway, momentum can go a long way in the first two races of 2022. Tickets for grandstand seating for Saturday’s race are on sale now and available online at www.eventbrite.ca. Adult tickets are $25.00, youth $10.00 (8-15yrs), 7 and under are FREE! Tickets for the pits are $30.00 and are available at the back gate on race day only. Tickets for grandstand seating will also be available at the gates on race day. Grandstand gates open at 1 pm with racing beginning at 4 pm.Tim’s Corner Motorsports TV will have a video crew at Scotia Speedworld to provide full event coverage.
