OXFORD PLAINS, ME – Steve Benincasa might have won the INEX Legends feature at Oxford Plains Speedway Friday night but the biggest celebration of the night was likely at the Meehan camp after siblings Emily Meehan and Adam Meehan, finished second and third, respectively. Benincasa hails from Maine and is the 2015 NELCAR Rookie of the Year while both Meehan’s are from Kennetcook, Nova Scotia, and participants in the Atlantic Tiltload League of Legends, where Emily sits fourth and Adam fifth in current point standings. Seventy-six super late models took to the track for Oxford 250 practice with Trevor Sanborn posting the fastest lap of the 50 cars that had transponders in final practice. Neither Cassius Clark, in Rollie MacDonald’s No. 13 (Pictou, NS), or Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake) had transponders. Action continues at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday with Oxford 250 practice and a full night of racing for the Valenti Modified Series, Wicked God Vintage Racing, OPS Mods, Streets, NEMST, Classic Lights, and INEX Legends. Racing starts Saturday at 6 p.m. (local). The 42nd running of the Oxford 250 is Sunday, starting at 1:30 p.m. (local) with heat races, consi, last chance, and feature for the super late models, along with PASS Mods, Streets, Rebels, and INEX Legends. Fans who cannot make the show in person can watch via pay-per-view on 51TV.
