NORTH SALEM, NS – The Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends Tour will close its season on Sunday at Atlantic Motorsports Park for the R&D Performancentre Road Course Challenge. The series is the only Maritime based stock car touring series to run on a road course. A 10-lap heat race will set the tone for the final 15-lap feature of the season on the 1.6-mile, 11 turn circuit. Qualifying begins at 11 a.m. on Sunday with the R&D Performancentre Road Course Challenge taking place at 12:30 p.m.

The Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends Tour championship has come down to three drivers. Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake), Paul Goulden (Shelburne) and reigning champion Justin MacNeill (Bedford) all enter the final race of the season with a mathematical shot at the top spot in the standings with only nine points between first and third. All full time competitors that compete in every race are allowed to drop their worst point finish to this point in the season, and with the dropped race factored in, the top three only have nine points between them with one race to go.

Butcher has won three races this season, including a sweep of the events at Riverside International Speedway and the Scotia Tire 50 at Scotia Speedworld in August. MacNeill won the most recent feature the series contested at Petty International Raceway. Goulden has been a model of consistency this season with four podium finishes in the six races run thus far in 2015. Regardless what Goulden or MacNeill can muster on Sunday, Butcher can clinch his first series title with a podium finish at the R&D Performancentre Road Course Challenge.

Behind the championship trio sit seven drivers who have competed in each of the Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends Tour races in 2015 and are currently eligible for the Atlantic Tiltload Championship Point Fund. Emily Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines) enters as a lock for fourth in the championship standings while her younger brother Adam Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines) will chase fifth in the standings as he enters 13 points up on veteran Jeff Cruickshank (Hantsport).

Adam Meehan enters as the leading rookie in the series and is in position to clinch the prestigious Rookie of the Year Award Sunday over fellow freshmen Craig Chisholm (Antigonish), Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB) and Kevin MacDonald (Antigonish).

Additional drivers are expected to join the field for the final Legend race in the Maritimes in 2015, including former Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends Tour champion Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake). Butcher will look to defend his R&D Performancentre Road Course Challenge win earned one year ago. The likes of Joey Lawson (Porter’s Lake) and Brad Brown (Williamswood), among others, could play spoiler on Sunday in the R&D Performancentre Road Course Challenge.

Pit gates for the R&D Performancentre Road Course Challenge at Atlantic Motorsports Park open at 7 a.m., the drivers meeting takes place at 9 a.m. with a one-hour Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends practice beginning at 9:15 a.m. The 10-lap qualifying heat race for the Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends Tour is slated for 11 a.m., with the feature getting the green flag at 12:30 p.m. The finale for the Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends Tour is a part of the annual Jack Canfield Memorial Three Hour Endurance race.
