Legends Tour Kicks Off Second Half of Season on PEI This Saturday July 29, 2022 Regional The Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour crosses the Confederation Bridge for the second time in 2022 this Saturday for the Island ICF 50. The second of two races at Oyster Bed Speedway in Oyster Bed Bridge, Prince Edward Island is the seventh of 12 races on the 2022 schedule. Racing begins at 4 pm on Saturday. The Redline Sport & Cycle 50 at Riverside International Speedway last Friday evening turned the championship point battle on its head after six races. While running well within the top three, Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS) suffered an electrical issue with the No. 87 Eastern Powder Coating Legend and failed to finish the event, which was won by Jolicure, New Brunswick’s Cory Hall. Chisholm’s 18th place finish took him from first to third in the point standings, 16 points back, and now has some work to do as the Series heads back to Oyster Bed Speedway. Chisholm has won the last two Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour stops at the Island’s only paved stock car oval. Enter Owen Mahar (Hubley, NS) and the Gilby Motorsports team. Mahar and Gilby find themselves tied atop the overall standings at the halfway point on the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour. Mahar earned a third-place finish last Friday at Riverside while Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow, NS) drove the No. 25 CKG Elevator entry to a fourth-place run. Mahar has been on the podium in five of the six feature events this season including the last four consecutive races. The worst finish for the No. 25 car this season has been fourth but the team is still looking for their first victory. Rogers is slated to be behind the wheel of the No. 25 this weekend during the Island ICF 50. Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS) still remains in the championship hunt with 29 points being the gap between him and the championship leaders. Langille was eighth at Riverside Speedway and continues to impress at the halfway point of the season. Leading Cross Roads Rookie Tanton Wooldridge (Summerside, PE) enters his home track fifth in the championship standings. In total, 30 drivers have competed in at least one Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour event, with a dozen of those drivers being full-time. That overall number includes 10 rookies, the biggest number the Series has seen in over a decade. With the Island ICF 50 marking the start of the second half of the 2022 season, drivers will be looking to make a statement as the Series races for the final time on Prince Edward Island this year. Qualifying will get underway at 4:00 pm on Saturday at Oyster Bed Speedway. Adult grandstand tickets are $30.00, youth (8-15) $10.00, children seven and under are free. Tickets are available at the gate on race day. New in 2022, all those entering the pit gates must complete their insurance waiver online prior to heading to the track.
