The Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour heads across the Confederation Bridge this Saturday, July 2nd for their fifth race of the 2022 season. The R&D Performancentre 50 is the first of two visits to Oyster Bed Speedway and Prince Edward Island this season, both of which fall in the month of July. Racing begins on Saturday at 4pm.

Owen Mahar (Hubley, NS) enters Prince Edward Island as the most recent winner on the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour. Mahar collected his second career Series victory last Saturday at Scotia Speedworld in the CKG Elevator 50 presented by Samuel, Son and Co. It has moved Mahar to within ten points of the championship point lead after four events.

The championship battle has become a four way dance for the top spot. Chase MacKay (Bear Cove, NS) drove the Danny Chisholm Racing No. 87 car to a top ten finish in a relief role for Chisholm (Canning, NS) last Saturday. Gage Gilby’s (Enfield, NS) third runner up finish this season has pulled the top rookie on the series to within four points of the overall lead. Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS) has yet to finish outside the top five in feature competition and finds himself 16 points out of the championship lead heading into the R&D Performancentre 50.

Gilby has a commanding lead on the Cross Roads Rookie of the Year chase after four races but with drop races to be factored in and two thirds of the season still left to run, anything can and likely will happen. Tanton Wooldridge (Summerside, PE) enters his home track second in the rookie standings and sixth in the championship standings. He trails Devin Wadden (Hammonds Plains, NS) by just ten points for fifth overall heading into Oyster Bed Speedway on Saturday.

Eleven drivers, including six Cross Roads Rookies, have raced in all four races so far this season with another four drivers having run the last three races with the Series. Chisholm is the most recent winner in Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour competition at Oyster Bed Speedway, winning their only 2021 appearance on Prince Edward Island last August.

Qualifying will get underway at 4:00pm on Saturday at Oyster Bed Speedway. Adult grandstand tickets are $30.00, youth (8-15) $10.00, children seven and under are free. Tickets are available at the gate on race day. New in 2022, all those entering the pit gates must complete their insurance waiver online prior to heading to the track. This waiver can be completed by going to OS.speedwaiver.com.
