The Upper Clements Parks Maritime League of Legends will contest their second straight round in the province of New Brunswick with the running of the Atlantic Tiltload 50 this Saturday, September 3rd at Speedway 660. The race is the seventh of eight on the championship season for the series and the only stop at the 1/3-mile oval in Geary. The Atlantic Tiltload 50 is a part of Speedweekend 2016. Racing action gets underway Saturday at 6:30pm.

Fans were treated to an exciting MacDonald Buick GMC Moncton 50 at Petty International Raceway last Saturday night. In a race that saw Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB) lead the most laps, it was Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) that went to victory lane after a spin with three laps remaining by Hall. Butcher, who was driving the Adam Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS) entry, edged out multiple time Canadian champions in Paul Goulden (Shelburne, NS) and Justin MacNeill (Bedford, NS) for his first Upper Clements Parks Maritime League of Legends Tour victory of the year.

Point leader Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL) finished sixth last week in his Petty International Raceway debut and will maintain the point lead heading into the Atlantic Tiltload 50 on Saturday. Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS) continues to hold second in the point standings and first in the Rookie of the Year chase. MacDonald sits 30 points out of Farrell for the top spot in the championship and will need to be up on the wheel in the next two events to keep in contention for the title.

Hall finds himself third in the standings after six events, nine points out of second place and only six points up on Meehan. Meehan now has a comfortable cushion on his sister Emily Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS) in the standings with MacNeill a slim three points out of the fifth place spot after his podium run at Petty International Raceway.

While the Atlantic Tiltload 50 marks the first time the Upper Clements Parks Maritime League of Legends Tour has visited “the Geary woods” in five years, most of the drivers on the series have previous experience at Speedway 660. Three drivers in Saturday’s field, Emily Meehan (2010), Cole Tanner (Shubenacadie, NS; 2013) and Hall (2014) are previous champions in the Tim’s Corner Motorsports Bandolero Blast while point leader Farrell took the green flag in last year’s A.E. McKay Builders Sportsman 150 on Speedweekend.

Advance tickets for SpeedWeekend 2016, which includes the Atlantic Tiltload 50 for the Upper Clements Parks Maritime League of Legends Tour, are on sale now by contacting the Speedway 660 office at (506) 454-7223. Tickets will also be available at the gate on race day. Camping is also available but is near capacity as of press time. The Speedway urges campers to contact the office in advance of arriving.

Speedweekend 2016 begins on Friday, September 2nd with a free pre-race corn boil and concert featuring country/rock band Mucky Fingers. Saturday, September 3rd will see stock car action hit the track at 6:30pm with the A.E. McKay Builders Sportsman 150, Atlantic Tiltload 50 for the Upper Clements Parks Maritime League of Legends Tour and the Tucker Appraisals 35 for the Atlantic Modified Tour. The McLaughlin Roof Trusses Pro Stock 250 headlines racing action on Sunday, September 4th beginning at 2pm. Playing support on Sunday for the McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250 includes the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters, the DMR Auto Street Stocks, and the Tim’s Corner Motorsports Bandolero Blast.
