Irving 250 Entry List Expands with Addition of Johnny Clark and DJ Shaw September 2, 2015 Regional GEARY, NB – Johnny Clark has booked his campsite and ordered tires for the Irving Blending & Packaging 250. Fresh off a fourth place finish in last weekend’s Oxford 250, Clark will head north this weekend. The Farmingdale, Maine driver loves Speedway 660 where he has three Pro All Star Series wins and a pair of Irving Blending & Packaging 250 victories. Labor Day Weekend one of the highest profile late model events in Eastern Canada, hits the track at Speedway 660. The Irving Oil Blending and Packaging 250 highlights a weekend which also includes the Irving 24 Sportsmen 150 and Capital City Auto Parts Enduro 200. “It’s been a tough season for us, but after an awesome run in the Oxford 250 on Sunday we’ve got some momentum and we think we can bring that to Speedway 660 this weekend” said Clark. “We’ve had a lot of success up there and have made a lot of friends in the Geary Woods so we’re really excited about coming back to New Brunswick with the goal of getting to victory lane on Sunday night.” Clark is not the only driver who has decided to punch his ticket to Irving Blending & Packaging SpeedWeekend. DJ Shaw has confirmed he’ll make the trip from Center Conway, New Hampshire to Speedway 660. Shaw, a veteran NASCAR K&N Pro Series, ACT Late Model Tour and PASS driver, also has his sights set on winning Atlantic Canada’s richest Pro Stock race. Fourteen-year-old Quebec native Raphael Lessard has also confirmed he will visit New Brunswick this weekend. Lessard, who is a member of the David Gilliland Racing Development Roster, is one of the rising young stars in Canadian motorsports. Joey Doiron, who had a motor give up down in Oxford, is also hoping to get his car back up and running for the Irving Blending & Packaging 250. Chris Duncan, the 1994 and 2010 RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock champion will also attempt to qualify for the 250. Speedway 660 also has updated contingency award news to pass on to fans and race teams. Modern Electric has sponsored the halfway challenge award for the 250. The leader of lap number 125 will receive $1000. Lap 203 pays $1000 in memory of Gordie Halpin, a legendary race car driver from Saint John, who was the grandfather of Pro Stock driver Steve Halpin. Greenfield Enterprises has also put up $1000 for the leader of lap 91. All other laps in the Irving Blending & Packaging 250 are worth $50, except lap 250 which pays the winner of the race $15,000. Pub’s Drive Through Bottle Exchange has announced a $700 Halfway Challenge Award to the leader of lap 75 in the Irving I24 Sportsman 150. “We are absolutely thrilled with the number of contingency awards and want to thank all of the people who have sponsored laps,” said Max Roy. “Entries are continuing to roll in for both races. SpeedWeekend is going to be an incredible event for our fans, race teams and marketing partners.” There are still a few $50 lap sponsorship opportunities left for the Pro Stock race. The race leader claims the money the sponsors contribute for each lap he or she leads. There are a few campsites available and advance reserved tickets are selling quickly. Irving Blending & Packaging SpeedWeekend gets underway this Friday evening at 7 p.m. with the Harvey’s Family Farms corn-boil, infield party and concert with Tristan Horncastle. Racing gets underway Saturday evening at 6:30 and features the Irving I24 Sportsman 150. Fans will also see Westwood Estate Apartments Bandolero and Atlantic Modified Tour races on Saturday night. On Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. there will be Pro Stock qualifying as well as action with the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters and DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stocks. Sunday at 6:30 p.m. there will be pre-race ceremonies for the Irving Blending & Packaging Pro Stock 250, with the biggest race in Atlantic Canada taking the green flag at approximately 7 p.m.
