Kevin Harvick won the Coors Light Pole Award for the 5-Hour Energy 400 Benefitting Special Operations Warrior Foundation at Kansas Speedway. He turned a lap of 27.709 seconds at 194.252 mph; this is Harvick’s eighth pole in 477 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races and his second pole and sixth top-10 start in 2014. It is his second pole in 17 races at Kansas Speedway.
Joey Logano will start Saturday night’s race second, his eighth top-10 start of 2014 and his sixth in 10 races at Kansas.
Logano’s Penske Racing teammate Brad Keselowski will start third; posting his third top-10 start in 2014 – his eighth in 11 races at Kansas Speedway.
Kyle Larson was the fastest rookie and will start fifth.
Harvick’s fast lap was a new track record; Kansas Speedway becomes the sixth track this year to see a new qualifying record, joining Phoenix, Las Vegas, Bristol, Martinsville and Darlington.
