Hall Dominates to Win SLMS Race at Oyster Bed Speedway June 17, 2024 Regional Cory Hall (#83) raced his way into the record books in commanding fashion Sunday afternoon when he won the Universal Truck and Trailer 150 at Oyster Bed Speedway, making him the first driver to score a victory at all three tracks on the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series. Hall started outside pole for the 150-lap race and led every lap en route to the victory – also marking the first time a driver led every lap in an Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series event. His third career victory – and first trip to EPIC Racewear victory lane of 2024 – didn’t come without a fight, as PEI drivers such as Robbie MacEwen (#40), Darren MacKinnon (#18) and defending series champion Dylan Gosbee (#16) all attempted to mount charges to overtake Hall, but were unsuccessful. It was MacKinnon filling Hall’s mirror on the race’s final restart with 14 laps to go, but after topping the charts in every practice on the afternoon, no one was able to stop Hall en route to victory. MacKinnon would settle for second once again at Oyster Bed Speedway, while Ashton Tucker (#2) saw his three race win streak come to a close with a third place finish – a result which was surely a win for the Brad Silliker Motorsports team based on past results at the PEI bullring. MacEwen and Gosbee would round out the top five respectively after spending much of the race in podium positions. Hall started on the Two Speed Motorsports Outside Pole, but quickly nabbed the lead from EIT Race Radios Pole Sitter Lonnie Sommerville (#23). The first half of the race went nearly entirely green, with Robbie MacEwen stalking Hall as the pair checked out from the field and worked through traffic. A few quick cautions for a Greg Proude (#29) spin followed by a Kent Vincent (#8) spin which collected Dustin Tucker (#52) shook the order in the top five, giving Gosbee a chance to try and muscle away the lead. The entire Universal Truck and Trailer 150 only featured four cautions, with spins by Curtis Collins (#27) and Brandon Snow (#7) drawing the race’s other yellow flags in the late stages. MacKinnon, MacEwen, and Greg Fahey (#20) all captured heat race wins. The Universal Truck and Trailer 150 took 51 minutes and 17 seconds to complete, besting the Castle Building Centres 150 from two weeks ago as the quickest race in series history. The season is now halfway complete for the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series, and an all out war of a championship battle is unfolding between Cory Hall and Ashton Tucker. Full points will be found on the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series website early in the week. Round four of the 2024 season will feature a return trip to Petty International Raceway for the Old Fashioned Meat Market 150 on Saturday, July 6 at 6pm.
