Eddy Ready for Denny Hamlin’s Short Track Showdown

Lower Sackville teenager Brad Eddy is ready for the April 24 Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown at the fabled South Boston Speedway in Virginia where he will become the first Maritime Canadian to ever compete in the prestigious event.

Eddy has this week announced he will drive a car prepared by Hedgecock Racing Enterprises, based in North Carolina with a  reputation for building great race cars and boasting a clientele including Richard Petty, Dale Earnhart, Sr., Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick, and Mark Martin’s son, Matt Martin.

Eddy’s car will bear his number 72 and the effort is being supported by  Denver Foran Racing, Quinn’s Flooring, Danas Collision Center and King Freight Lines.

Eddy’s 2011 NASCAR track championship is among the accomplishments that earned him the opportunity to compete in the invitation-only event where he can test his talent against some of the best short track racers in the U.S. as well as top NASCAR drivers including Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, David Ragan, Elliott Sadler, Timothy Peters, Jeb Burton, Drew Herring and Hermie Sadler.

The Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown is the day before a weekend where NASCAR’s top two series are at Richmond International Raceway, just a two-hour drive from South Boston. The event benefits the Denny Hamlin Cystic Fibrosis Research Lab at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond.

Eddy has been racing a limited schedule with a limited budget on the Maritime-based Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour the past two seasons with strong showings including several top five finishes. He is a Canadian INEX champion, Scotia Speedworld track champion, AMKA Provinical champion and rookie of the year. Brad is a second-generation racer and the son of former Maritime pro stock racer Dan Eddy.
