Eastern Mini Cup Series at Centre for Speed for Saturday Showdown October 4, 2018 Regional The Eastern Super Mini Cup Series returns to action with two straight races in New Brunswick to close off the 2018 season. The 25-lap feature on Saturday is a part of the 2018 Atlantic Stock Car Championships at the Shediac CENTRE For Speed in Grand-Barachois, New Brunswick. Racing action gets underway at 1 pm. This event marks the first “road trip” of the season for the Series, with the first five races taking place at Prince Edward Island’s Oyster Bed Speedway. Mark Ferguson (Saint John, NB) enters this race with a comfortable cushion in the standings. Ferguson has a 46 point lead with just two races to go and is the reigning Atlantic Championships winner for the Eastern Super Mini Cup Series. Ferguson has not won a feature event since May though and will look to change that in his home province on Saturday. Rookie Jacob Dunlop (Hampton, PE) and “Old Man” Donnie McNeil are tied for second in the point standings and have had similar paths in their 2018 season. Dunlop and McNeil both have a pair of feature wins to their credit at Oyster Bed Speedway this season with the No. 73 car going to victory lane in the last two races. While the newcomer to the Series enters as the most recent feature winner, McNeil may have the upper hand with a previous Mini Cup start at the CENTRE For Speed. Rookies Randy Wilson and Logan Dawson (Tyne Valley, PE) complete the top five in the overall standings heading into the 25-lap feature on Saturday afternoon. Brodie Lewis (Charlottetown, PE) scored a podium finish in his first run with the Series during the EMCO 20 in August and will look to carry the momentum across the Confederation Bridge on Saturday. He’ll have to be on his game to come home with the hardware as Series regulars Kirk Sheasgreen (Miramichi, NB), Dave Griffin and Jeremy Alexander (Summerside, PE) will look to leave Southeast New Brunswick with the checkered flag. Adult grandstand admission price for Saturday’s Atlantic Stock Car Championships is $25 (aged 20 and up), child admission (aged six to 19) is $10 and carload admission is $75 per vehicle. Pit admission is $35 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Tickets are available at the gate on race day. Pit gates for competitors open at 9 am and grandstand gates for fans will open at 10 am with racing getting underway at 1 pm. The Saturday portion of the Atlantic Stock Car Championships also includes racing in the Sportsman, Four Fun and Mini Stock divisions. This is the sixth of seven races on the 2018 Eastern Super Mini Cup Series season. The 2018 season will conclude next week, Saturday, October 13th, at Speedway Miramichi. The Concept Drilling 20 Season Finale will be a part of The Very Best Fall Shootout and will see a champion crowned for the Series.
