Date, $75K-To-Win, Announced for 2019 Canadian Short Track Nationals

HAGERSVILLE, ON – After capturing the attention of fans, racers and industry insiders on both sides of the American-Canadian border with the inaugural Canadian Short Track Nationals last September, Jukasa Motor Speedway will look to up the ante even further with the second instalment of their marquee event in 2019.

The second edition of the Pro Late Model showcase will headline the August 31st – September 1st weekend and will boast a head-turning $300,000 total purse and also have the length increased from 200 laps to 250 laps.

“We said that we wanted to make this the biggest short track race in North America – and we absolutely meant it,” says Jukasa Motor Speedway GM Alex Nagy. “There’s an infectious energy being around the (Jukasa Motor Speedway) ownership group because they don’t take any half-measures. They go full-out every time they try to accomplish something – and growing this event is no exception to that.”

The Jukasa Motor Speedway brass hope to continue establishing the burgeoning event as one of the can’t miss Crown Jewels of the racing calendar, and to help achieve their vision, the 2019 edition of the race will pay a mammoth $75,000 to the Pro Late Model winner – with $3500 guaranteed just to start the 250-lap feature event.

“We were humbled by the incredible turnout that we had for the first edition of the (Canadian Short Track) Nationals,” said Nagy. “The atmosphere was electric; the stands were jam-packed and the talent on-track was second to none. We want to do that again this summer – but even bigger.”

In addition to the Pro Late Model headliner, the Canadian Short Track Nationals weekend will also feature a 50-lap Super Stock showcase paying $5,000 to the winner plus a $10,000 to win 75 lap Outlaw Super Late Model shootout.

“The Super Stocks did everything they could to steal the show (in 2018) and we knew that we wanted to reward that performance by bringing them back for the second edition of this event and the Outlaw Super Late Model race last year attracted some of the best from Canada and the USA and the feeling is that with the increased purse the talent pool will increase even more which will be incredible”, mentions Nagy.

The boost in purse for the 2019 event follows an action plan detailed by Jukasa Motor Speedway ownership during the inaugural Canadian Short Track Nationals, with a $500,000 purse expected for the 2020 event and a record-breaking $1,000,000 purse promised for 2021.

“We want to make sure that we give the fans, the race teams and the sponsors something to talk about for a long, long time and we’re confident that we can make that happen,” says Nagy. “Believe me – we’re just getting warmed up. There are big things ahead on the horizon and we couldn’t be more excited to have everyone along for the ride with us.”

Jukasa Motor Speedway is a .625-mile paved speedway located in Hagersville, Ontario, Canada. The track first opened in 1966 as Cayuga Speedway and remained opened until it ceased regular operations in 2010. With new ownership in 2016, the facility underwent extensive renovations. Among the changes at the facility include a complete redesign and asphalt recovering of the racing surface and upgrades for competitors and fans throughout the entire 350-acre site.
