On Friday evening legends of NASCAR gathered among nearly 3,000 fans at the NASCAR Hall of fame in Charlotte, North Carolina to celebrate the induction of the Class of 2018 where Red Byron, Ray Evernham, Ken Squier, Ron Honaday Jr., and Robert Yates found their forever places in the hallowed institution. While there were many highlights during the evening it was the last induction where the words of the late Robert Yates brought the crowd to silence and tears as Dale Jarrett narrated the acceptance speech which Yates had written before his death last October. Jarrett, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014, won the Daytona 500 and a NASCAR premiere series championship as Yates’ driver. Other notables who made on-stage appearances to introduce new inductees were Dale Earnhardt, Jr. for Squier, Brad Keselowski for Yates, Kevin Harvick for Hornaday, Jeff Gordon for Evernham, and Martin Truex Jr. for Byron.
