Champions Will be Decided Sunday at Speedway 660 August 19, 2017 Regional As of 9 a.m. August 19 – Inclement weather has postponed this show to Sunday, August 20, at 2 p.m. The 2017 Night of Champions is happening this Saturday at Speedway 660. The racing begins at 6:30 PM and will be intense as Championship trophies and Rookie of the Year awards will be up for grabs in all four racing divisions. The top two drivers in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman division are separated by only two points. Drew Greenlaw, who finished second in points in each of the last two seasons, has a slim lead over John Rankin, the 2009 Sportsman champion. “John and I have been swapping the lead back and forth for most of the season and hopefully when the Night of Champions is over we can finally claim that championship trophy” said Greenlaw. “But it won’t be easy because John is a great driver and after winning the feature, at last week’s Fan Appreciation Night, I’m going to have to start at the back this weekend.” Brent Roy leads the RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock division while Luc McLaughlin is the leader in the DMR Auto Sales Street Stock division and Kyle Boudreau is tops in the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter division. Rookie of the Year Awards will also be handed out in each division. “The competition is always tough here so championships and rookie awards have got to be earned and we’ll have to wait until Saturday night to see who takes home the hardware” said Speedway 660’s Max Roy. “We’ve got tight races throughout the standings in every division with several drivers trying to crack the top five or top ten, so it’ll be an extremely entertaining evening of racing.” This is the final race date before SpeedWeekend, which runs from September 1st to 3rd.
