Atlantic Modified Tour Set For Round 2 of ’22 Saturday at Miramichi May 26, 2022 Regional The Atlantic Modified Tour races up to the North Shore of New Brunswick this Saturday for Round Two of the 20th Anniversary Series at Speedway Miramichi. The Blackville Auto Value 35 is the second of 11 point events on the 2022 season and the first of four adventures to Miramichi. The Atlantic Modified Tour is a part of a full card of stock car racing and demolition action during the Spring Smash event. Racing begins on Saturday afternoon at 2 pm. Heading into this event, the Atlantic Modified Tour already has a heavyweight tilt building after one race on the year. Chris Wilson (South Esk, NB) and Braxton Stafford (Miramichi, NB), the two drivers who won the most feature events in 2021, battled for the win during the Kamizo Transport LTD 35 at Petty International Raceway. The edge in the first chapter of 2022 went to Wilson after the two went nerf bar to nerf bar for several laps during the opening round. Both drivers have wins at Speedway Miramichi in 2021 with Stafford having the edge on Wilson with two wins in the camp of the No. 91 compared to the No. 2w. Doug Matchett (Miramichi, NB) is the reigning champion of the first race of the year at Speedway Miramichi. Matchett started the season with a top five effort in the Kamizo Transport LTD 35 last Saturday evening but will look to race back to the podium at his home track during Saturday’s Blackville Auto Value 35. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Joe Hoyt (Waasis, NB) and Yves McCray (Neguac, NB) missed victory lane at the track in 2021. Hoyt had feature victories in consecutive seasons at the track dating back to 2017 and McCray had wins in the previous three seasons before going winless in Miramichi in 2021. Both won races at other venues last season, both are previous Tour Champions but both missed the podium at last Saturday’s Kamizo Transport LTD 35. The pair of veterans will look to race their way to the front on Saturday to make an early season statement in the Blackville Auto Value 35. A majority of the Atlantic Modified Tour drivers call Speedway Miramichi home and strive to put their name on the win list at the track every season. With only a quartet of Atlantic Modified Tour races at the track each year, the home track heroes will not only look to drive to victory lane but will also look to fend off the out of town drivers on Saturday. Grandstand admission prices for Saturday’s Blackville Auto Value 35 are $20 for adults and $10 for youth aged eight to 17 and $10 for Seniors aged 65 and older, while children seven years of age and under will be admitted free. Pit admission is $25. Pit gates for competitors open at 9:30 am with grandstand gates opening at 11 am. Racing action gets underway on Saturday at 2 pm. Tickets are available at the gate on race day.
