Another Rowe Ready to Race Pro Stocks in Maine February 26, 2014 Regional Hang onto your hats as another member of the legendary Rowe family will take to the 3/8 mile Oxford Plains Speedway in 2014. Soon to be fourteen years old, Gunnar Rowe of Turner, Maine will be making his OPS racing debut on Friday, May 2, 2014 in the highly competitive Pro Late Model division. Gunnar Rowe Gunnar will kick off the season in a brand new, 2014 Pro Late Model built by family members with the support of Mike Lux, and Lux Enterprises. The young Rowe will turn fourteen on April 28th, just prior to the start of the season, and will be attempting to follow in the footsteps of his father Tommy Rowe, his uncle Ben Rowe and his legendary grandfather Mike Rowe. Gunnar understands that this season will be quite a learning process, but he feels that by mid-season he will have his driving skills honed well enough to be competing for the top ten and above. The younger Rowe practiced a Pro Late Model earlier and if his times and smoothness behind the wheel are any indication, he may become a threat much earlier than he thinks. His father, Tommy Rowe will act as crew chief for the #24, and you can count on all the family to be there to offer support weekly. The support will be endless for the young man as he can count on advice from some of the best in the business including car owner Mike Lux. Gunnar is a very quiet young man until you strap him into a racecar, and then he just explodes with enthusiasm and lets his driving skills do the talking for him. The Turner, Maine, Tripp Middle School eighth grader, had huge success and championships in Go-Karts and also competed in the Whiz Kids at Beech Ridge, and everyone is anticipating success as he moves up the ladder. This is another great example of today’s youth exploding onto the scene in the world of motorsports. Gunnar understands he has some big shoes to fill in the sport of auto racing, but he is not worried about that at all, as he is going to improve at his own pace, and he is just proud to be part of the greatest racing family in Maine and beyond. This way of thinking is very mature, and just may be the perfect attitude for the next great “Rowe Racer.” source – Oxford Plains Speedway online
