GEARY, NB – Management for Speedway 660 is thrilled to pull back the curtain on the 2024 season schedule. The 2024 season will mark the 31st in operation for the 1/3rd mile oval, with the facility having opened in 1994. Four house divisions – three of which remain the same as opening day in 1994 – will contest action all summer, while the facility will also welcome several touring series and other special shows.

Racing begins on Saturday, May 18 with the 31st annual Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener. Competition in the ReMax East Coast Elite Realty Pro Stock division, Late Model Sportsman, Shur-Fit Auto Bumper to Bumper Street Stocks, and Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters will thrill fans to kick off their season-long championship chase.

The following two weeks will see major events roll into town and thrill fans. May 25 will see the return of the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour to Speedway 660, contesting 150 laps around the oval, coupled with the ever-popular Kids Day. Last year saw the Touring Pro’s go toe-to-toe with the local stars. Harvey’s Ryan Messer would make a late race pass on three-time Tour Champion Craig Slaunwhite to keep the trophy in the hands of the locals, much to the screaming delight of the hometown crowd.

The Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series will hit the blacktop on June 1 for the Castle Building Centers 150, presented by Taiga Building Products. The 2023 edition of the race once again saw Messer taking the inaugural Series victory home. Additionally, the Maritime League of Legends will try and steal the show as they open their 2024 campaign at Speedway 660.

Speedway 660 is excited to welcome brand new marketing partners TopmarBuilding Supplies, Castle Building Centers, and Taiga Building Products to the Speedway 660 Family. This highlights a small portion of growth behind the scenes during the off-season.

After a couple of weeks off, the track roars back to life with a brand-new event on the Calendar, the Schools Out-Twin 40’s. This event will be highlighting our youngest fans and our grassroots racers, the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters. Teams will be able to help support the event by bringing in a bicycle to give away to our littlest race fans. All are encouraged to participate by bringing along bicycles for kids. The racing will be furious with the Sharp Shooters having a double feature night of 40 laps each. Both events will award full points to the season-long championship run.

Canada Day Long weekend has found a new partnership with Atlantic Canada’s largest Street Stock race, The Ricky Bobby 150. The 6th edition of the event will continue the tradition Rick Arbeau set in the late hours of the campground, with a washer toss tournament on Friday night. Fans are encouraged to come out and sign up for a night of fun and laughs as they could get partnered up with their favorite driver! A live band and bonfire will cap the night off. Saturday, June 29 the best Street Stock drivers from around Atlantic Canada will do battle for 150 laps, testing every single piece of equipment and patience on route to the illustrious Ricky Bobby Trophy.

The Enduro Clash will stand high and mighty on July 20 as the rough and tumble stars of the enduro will test their cars might for 200 laps. The event will also feature a few other to-be-announced items that are sure to thrill the fans. Track staff is also actively working on adding a second date for Enduro competition in 2024.

Targett’s Windows & Doors will host the 3rd annual Street Stock 100 on July 27 with Santa Claus scheduled to make an appearance as part of Christmas in July. Sportsman teams will also be excited to know that a 100-lap event for them will be on tap. Details of this event are still in the works but expect a very appealing attraction to teams within the region.

The month of August might be the biggest one yet. The Fredericton Gun Shop GunSlinger 75 Returns in 2024. Last year officials converted the event to a three 25-lap stage event, with the overall winner being crowned with the best overall finish from the three stages.

August 17 will set the stage to Crown the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series Champion at the ReCar 150 presented by Wonder Auto & Tire. Last year the entire facility was on their feet as Cory Hall and Ashton Tucker went door to door, traded paint, and put it all on the line to take home the win. Hall would end up with the Trophy when all the dust settled. With a championship on the line this time, fans and teams have already circled the event on the calendar as one not to miss.

The 24th annual SpeedWeekend presented by Lyle Bongards RV Sales will once again contest 3 race events on Labor Day weekend.

D. Gillespie & Sons Trucking Ltd. returns to present Friday night’s headlining $1,000 to win Street Stock 100. The Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters will play support on Friday night with the Atlantic Modified Tour holding the third annual George Fitzpatrick Memorial the same night.

Saturday night the Riverview Ford Sportsman 150 will see some of the best race teams from the region compete in the 150-lap event. The Maritime League of Legends and Mini Stock Challenge will also compete on Saturday as well. The Bandolero division will once again remain a SpeedWeekend staple, competing both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

The Heart of a Champion Hot Rod Series will return on Sunday of SpeedWeekend to highlight their unique looks after a Saturday afternoon car show in support of the IWK Foundation. Races for The Maritime League of Legends, Bandoleros, Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters, and the Atlantic Modified Tour will support the 24th annual Pro Stock 250. Last year Dave O’Blenis propelled his number 48 machine to victory lane over Ryan Messer after a late race restart in a finish that fans are still talking about to this day. In doing so, Dave became one of a handful of 2-time winners of the event and rounded out a 21-year gap between victories.

The Weekend of Champions will round off the 2024 calendar on September 21, crowning all 4 track champions!

“We’re extremely excited about the 2024 calendar,” said Brent Roy from Speedway 660. “We’ve been able to target some of our events and move some things around for this year to make it better for Race teams to compete, but also allowing for family balance. We’ve been able to secure a few new partners for this year that are brand new to motorsports and are still working on a few more yet to be released.”

Further 2024 event information will be available on the track website and social media channels as they are confirmed and announced.
