NASCAR Returning to Riverside in ’24 November 21, 2023 NASCAR JAMES RIVER, NS – Riverside International Speedway will host the NASCAR Canada Series in 2024, marking the return of North America’s top stock car racing sanctioning body to the 1/3-mile high banked asphalt oval. NASCAR has a long history at Riverside, dating back to 1975, with its most recent visit in 2019. Two NASCAR Canada Series championship points races will highlight a multi-day Canada Day weekend celebration. The first is on Saturday, June 29 and the second is on Sunday, June 30. “We are thrilled to welcome NASCAR back to Riverside,” said Donald Chisholm, track owner and winner of the 2014 NASCAR Canada Series race at Riverside. “They will provide our fans with an opportunity to see some of the best stock car racers and racing in Canada. We look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones, racers and fans alike.” This will be a Riverside Signature Event created so the facility becomes a destination for the long weekend. Located on 100 acres of property adjacent to the Trans Canada Highway 104 in James River (17km east of Antigonish), Riverside is the largest permanent outdoor entertainment complex east of Quebec. With seating for 8,000+ and campsites for 800+, the hamlet of James River could easily exceed the population of Antigonish during the event creating a positive economic impact for the region with direct and indirect financial spinoffs. More racing divisions, events, and activities will be added to the weekend schedule. Weekend camping reservations and tickets will be available once more details are finalized. The Riverside races are rounds four and five (of 13) for the 2024 NASCAR Canada Series. With the doubleheader at Riverside the week after the Series stop in NL, the three-race east coast swing should bode well for team participation at both venues. Riverside International Speedway is the only NASCAR-sanctioned track in the Maritime Provinces. All NASCAR Canada Series races air on TSN and RDS in Canada and FloSports in the United States. The full broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date. This is the second event announcement for 2024 at Riverside International Speedway. The IWK 250 Super Race Weekend, also a Riverside Signature Event, is set for July 17-20 with the IWK 250 Presented by Steve Lewis on July 20. 2024 will see the facility celebrate an amazing 55 years. Fans should stay tuned for more exciting announcements for the season and to commemorate the significant anniversary as management looks to fully utilize what is the largest outdoor entertainment facility in eastern Canada.
