Jarrett Butcher Wins Milestone 250th Race for ECI Pro Stock Tour

JAMES RIVER, NS – Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake) put his name in the history books by winning the Series 250^th race – the East Coast International 150 at Riverside International Speedway. Butcher now has a hat-trick of victories in the 2023 season. Current point leader Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay) hunted Butcher through the final turn but had to settle for second. Mike Rodgers (Moncton, NB) was gunning for his first career win and picked up the R&D Performancentre Most Laps Led award but some late cautions ultimately left him in third. Russell Smith Jr (Lakeside) also came close to his first series win and battled Rodgers at the head of the pack most of the race. Donald Chisholm (Antigonish) kept himself in the mix and completed the top five.

Rodgers and Butcher won their Atlantic Tiltload heat races which set the field for the East Coast International 150. Smith Jr won the Kenny U Pull Hard Charger Award. Matt Vaughan was the Fast Eddie Racewear Lucky Dog. Jordan Veinotte (Porter’s Lake, NS) was the rookie of the race.

Prior to the racing action, nine drivers with over 100+ starts on the Series were awarded the very first Legacy Awards – a recently launched program that will recognize drivers when they reach milestone achievements on the track.

The Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends competed in a 50-lap feature prior to the main event. Colton Noble (Nine Mile River) was first under the checkers followed by Chase MacKay (Dartmouth) and Tanton Woolridge (Summerside, PE).

The Hot Rod Classics Series put on a great show for 25 laps which saw Stacey Clements victorious followed by the Lawrence brothers, with Peter edging out Patrick for the final podium spots. 

The East Coast International Pro Stock Tour will be out of action for the next couple of weeks as drivers and crews prepare for the last two events of the season and the final push to grab valuable championship points.  The Tour returns to Riverside International Speedway for the Modern Pumps & Metals 150 on Saturday, September 9. Tickets will be available online at www.riversidespeedway.ca beginning on August 28.

150+ starts: Greg Proude (Springvale, PE), Donald Chisholm (Antigonish), Shawn Pierce (Bridgewater), Shawn Turple (Enfield), Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay), John Flemming (Halifax), Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB), and Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE).

100+ starts: Jonathan Hicken (New Glasgow), Chris Hughes (Brackley Beach, PE), Wayne Smith (Moncton, NB), George Koszkulics (New Glasgow), Mike MacKenzie (Dartmouth), Daryl Mahar (Hubley, NS), and Terry Dougay (Albany, PE).

Nine drivers were present to accept their awards this evening at Riverside International Speedway.
