Speedway Miramichi Saturday Show Postponed August 29, 2020 Regional This just in from the track (7 a.m.)… Well fans, we tried our best. We really wanted to get our show in today with what was expected to be a record setting field of cars – but with the system expected later today being remnants of a hurricane and the forecast being unpredictable, it is in everyone’s best interest that we have made the tough decision to call off the races and Demo for the weekend. Currently, we have no official make-up date. We will be exploring possible options and hope to detail this in the coming days and weeks. For fans who pre-purchased tickets, you will be contacted in the coming days regarding your options for either a refund or a credit to our next event. We thank all those who purchased their tickets in advance, we appreciate your support. Speaking of next events, Saturday September 12th is our next event. We billed the July event as the biggest event in years, but we are already anticipating September to surpass it. With the Back to School Smash Demolition, a 75-lap Mini Stock feature, Street Stock and Bomber racing, it’s already a big show. We hope to make it even bigger with more announcements over the next 2 weeks. MARK YOUR CALENDARS! A note to Demolition drivers, due to this postponement, September 12th will no longer be your championship event. Atlantic Modified Tour at Speedway Miramichi Saturday (Aug 27, 2020) – The Atlantic Modified Tour heads to Speedway Miramichi this Saturday for the third round of six on their 2020 season. The Bryn Enterprises 35 is the first trip to the Northern New Brunswick oval and the third different race track the Series will visit in as many races. The third round of the Atlantic Modified Tour is a part of a motorsports card that is anchored by the Thunder 100 Enduro Race. The green flag goes in the air for qualifying on Saturday at 4 pm. A dozen Atlantic Modified Tour teams have signaled early intent to compete at Speedway Miramichi this Saturday afternoon. They have all been chasing Logan Power (Riverview, NB), who has won the first two feature events of the season. Power, driving for Greg and Darrell Butler, cannot rest as he only has a two point advantage on Yves McCray (Neguac, NB). With championship points being handed out for heat finishes along with McCray’s consistency in the first two events, he has kept Power honest in the championship chase after two races. McCray has two Atlantic Modified Tour feature wins at the Douglastown oval while this will be Power’s first Tour start at the track. With two thirds of the season still remaining, several drivers will look to claw their way back into the championship discussion as they head North for the first time in 2020. Zean Dutcher and Travis Conroy will both make the short haul to their home track. Dutcher enters third in the point standings, 26 points behind Power after two events. Conroy, who finished on the podium during the Season Opening Cannaconnect 35, is a mere two points behind Dutcher. The pair will look to use their home track experience to vault them to victory lane in the Bryn Enterprises 35. The reigning Series champion Brandon Skidmore (Springhill, NS) has a small mountain to climb after two races if he wants to successfully defend his title. Skidmore’s most recent win at Miramichi came last August and will look to follow up a podium finish in the Fox Chevrolet 35 with a victory this Saturday evening in the Bryn Enterprises 35. The gap from point leader Power to Skidmore is 36 points. One of the biggest early season stories of the season has been the tough luck for 2019 Speedway Miramichi track champion Joe Hoyt (Waasis, NB). The four time feature winner at Speedway Miramichi since 2014 and the driver who took the win last October in The Very Best Fall Shootout has a best finish of seventh in feature competition in 2020. Hoyt, who enters eighth in the championship point standings, will look to dig deep Saturday and put his No. 17 Keswick Kitchen Modified back in victory lane. “The Racing Ranger” Kim Hallihan (Renous, NB), defending Speedway Miramichi Street Stock Champion Chris Wilson (South Esk, NB) and Tyson Donovan (Miramichi, NB) are all expected to make their Atlantic Modified Tour season debut at their home track. They will join the likes of Braxton Stafford (Blackville, NB) and Steven Curtis (South Esk, NB), who will look to put the first two races behind them and rebound with a strong performance in their back yards. Kevin Bailey (Minto, NB), a winner at Speedway Miramichi in 2018, rounds out the stout field of entries for the Bryn Enterprises 35 on Saturday afternoon.
