Sydney Speedway to Open With Doubleheader Weekend, July 25 & 26 July 10, 2020 Regional SYDNEY, NS – Management for Sydney Speedway are planning to open the 2020 season with a doubleheader on July 26 & 26, announced Thursday on social media… DRIVERS AND TEAMS: We have been working to try and make the July 25th and 26th weekend a reality to kick off our 2020 season. This is what we can tell you. As our race track is owned by a registered business, PPS Inc, we have the ability to open our race track to a 250 person gathering based off what we and another race track within the province have been told. With that, we will take pre-registrations from teams beginning sometime next week for the Saturday, July 25th and Sunday, July 26th event. When we open registration, all the information on how to submit required information will be on our Facebook page. Here are some notes in advance: Sportsman, Legend, Mini Stock and Bandolero divisions will be on both the Saturday and Sunday cards. Pit admission is $30 per day per person or $50 for a two-day weekend pass. Transponder rental fee is $20 per car per day. A full race day format will be announced the week of the event. Each team will have to pre-register with Sydney Speedway to ensure we have a proper head count heading into the event. Each car is permitted to have up to five persons signed in under it. This will include the driver. The team representative is responsible for registering their team together and paying the pit fee at time of registration to confirm their spot. Teams are urged to arrive together on race day. Deadline for registration is Thursday, July 23rd.Teams who do not use their five person limit will give us a chance to add other cars/teams to our event.Pre-registrations/pit fees are non refundable. Should the event rain out, your registration would be credited towards your next event at Sydney Speedway, valid until the end of the 2021 season.Payouts will be announced soon. Any technical questions can be directed to Technical Director Tony Leonard. The event will be available via an on-demand broadcast later in the week produced by TimsCorner.TV, a proud member of the Speed Sport TV network. We hope that by the July 25th and 26th weekend that restrictions are further loosened like they are in New Brunswick that allows them to race without a hard cap on attendance numbers. At this point, we are not sure whether fans will be permitted at our event based on restrictions around COVID-19 in Nova Scotia and we hope to have more on this as soon as we know the definite answer. In short, teams should start getting their cars ready because we are aiming to be on track on July 25th and 26th. See you at the track!
