JAMES RIVER, NS – Management for Riverside International Speedway is thrilled to announce that a new event has been added to the much-anticipated IWK 250 Super Weekend. The Dash for Cash, a prelude to the IWK 250, will highlight the show on Wednesday, July 16. The non-points 75-lap Dash for Cash pro stock/super late model race will pay $5,000 to win from a $38,000 purse, bringing the total prize monies offered for the four-day event to over $178,000.
“This is part of our ongoing effort to continue growing the IWK 250 Super Weekend, making it an event to remember for fans and racers alike,” said Joan Roue, track manager. “We’ve been contemplating a weekday race for a while and feel like this is a good fit. It’s an opportunity for the racers entering the IWK 250 to shake their cars down before the big event on Saturday and a chance for those who may not be running the IWK 250 to be a part of the nation’s biggest stock car racing event. For fans, it adds to the lure of an already fantastic event – another reason to make it a must-do highlight of their summer.”
The Dash for Cash will have a qualifying format unique to this region. Racers will do two laps at speed with a two-tire pit stop after lap one; the cumulative time will determine the starting order for the 75-lap feature race. The event will include heat races and a feature for a second division, which is expected to be announced soon. There will be a mandatory racer registration for the Dash for Cash; racers not already subscribed to Riverside’s Competitor Newsletter can sign up to be notified directly of the event rules and the registration open date. With this new event on Wednesday of the IWK 250 Super Weekend, the “traditional” schedule for the four-day event will be slightly adjusted and announced as available.
Thursday (July 17) will continue to feature the IWK 250 Tailgate Party, with Friday (July 18) seeing the NAPA/Henry’s AUTOPRO 100 for the Auto World MASS Sportsman Series and Maritime Legends Challenge for the Cross Roads Legends Tour. On Saturday (July 19), it’s the 17th running of the iconic IWK 250 Presented by Steve Lewis, the 36th “250” at Riverside. The winner takes home a guaranteed $20,000 from the $100,000+ purse, sees their name engraved on the majestic John W. Chisholm Cup with all of Riverside’s “250” champions – a who’s who list in Canadian motorsports, and is invited to join the annual IWK 250 Champion’s photo as part of the annual IWK 250 pre-race ceremonies.
The 2025 season at Riverside kicks off on June 28 with the Maple Leaf Classic featuring the NASCAR Canada Series and the Maritime Pro Stock Tour – two top touring series in one show. With this being the only stop east of Quebec for the NASCAR Canada Series, Riverside is NASCAR’s east coast host.
