2020 Schedule Taking Shape at Riverside February 8, 2020 Regional JAMES RIVER, NS – Management for Riverside International Speedway are pleased to announce event dates for the 2020 race season. The facility, a favourite with fans from all over Canada, will see events over four weekends from early-June through late-August. The season starts June 6 with the first of three championship points races for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour (PST), with qualifying and a 150-lap feature for the series. July 16 to 18 will see the IWK 250 Super Weekend with IWK 250 Tailgate Party on July 16, the Napa Sportsman Series on July 17, and the 14th-edition of the IWK 250 presented by Steve Lewis – a second PST points race – on July 18. August 15 will see grassroots motorsports take center stage at Riverside with a ‘Rev it Up’ theme including a Show & Shine in the afternoon and race card in the evening featuring a Sportsman Showdown. For the first time in recent memory, the Riverside season finale will be in August, an anomaly dictated by a late Labour Day date this year. On August 29, Riverside will close its 51st season with an event featuring a 200-lap contest for the Pro Stock Tour. Support classes and more details for each event are still in the works and will be announced in the near future. Campsite reservations for the IWK 250 weekend are open and can be made by visiting RiversideSpeedway.ca. The renewal deadline is March 31 for those who had sites in 2019; new reservations are also available and will be filled starting in April (after the renewal deadline). The first ‘250’ at Riverside was held in 1977; the event was rebranded the IWK 250 in 2007. Since then the marquee event has raised awareness and more than $480,000 for the IWK Foundation. The list of IWK 250 champions is a whos-who list of Canadian stock car legends and superstars – including Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame inductees Earl Ross, Junior Hanley, Don Biederman, Greg Sewart, Rollie MacDonald, and Scott Fraser, with a couple of well-known NASCAR names – Regan Smith and Kenny Wallace – included as well.
