Toursec Renews Thunder & Lightning Division Titles at Scotia Speedworld March 29, 2017 Regional Scotia Speedworld is pleased to announce Toursec will return as the title sponsor of the popular four cylinder Thunder and Lightning classes for the tracks 30th anniversary season. Toursec has been the security provider for Scotia Speedworld for many seasons. Billed as “the BEST Four Cylinder Drivers in Atlantic Canada,” the Toursec Thunder division provides some of the most exciting, door to door short track racing fans will see anywhere in the region. Priding themselves on close but clean racing, the Toursec Thunder division will leave the novice and diehard racing fan alike on the edge of their seat every lap. The closest point battle in the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series happened in the Toursec Thunder class in 2016, with two-time champion Dave Matthews (Kennetcook) tying with Stevie Lively (Shubenacadie) for the point title, with Lively edging Matthews on feature wins. Now a two-time champion himself, Lively will be taking his Thunder talents to the top as he recently announced he will run on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour in 2017. The Toursec Lightning is the entry level division of full bodied race cars at Scotia Speedworld. While it may be the first rung in the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series ladder, the four cylinder stars put on an exciting show from green flag to checkered flag under the Friday night lights. Deven Smith (Lakeside) drove to his second straight Toursec Lightning championship last year but was kept on his toes by Scott Thibodeau (Williamswood) and “Rational” Richard Drake (Halifax). The three combined to win all but one of the 12 feature races in 2016. The Toursec Thunder and Lightning divisions contest 25-lap features on Friday nights throughout the season at Scotia Speedworld. The divisions will each have two extended 50-lap events as a part of Toursec Twin 50s nights on Friday, July 14th and Friday, August 25th. The Toursec Thunder and Lightning classes will open the season alongside the rest of the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series divisions on Sunday, May 21 at 2:00 p.m. Toursec offers trained event security, life safety and emergency management programs for all types of events. Their experience includes some of the most prestigious concerts, sporting events and television productions in Canada. From Newfoundland to Vancouver, Toursec is recognized as a leader in event safety. For more information visit www.Toursec.com Scotia Speedworld (SSW) is a 3/10-mile asphalt oval racing facility.
