NAPLES, ME – In less than two weeks, the eyes of the short track racing world will be firmly focused on Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway. On Sunday, August 25, the biggest single day racing event of the year will take place when the green flag falls for the 46th Annual Oxford 250 and the chance for one driver to take home $50,000. But, as big as the 250 is, it is just a part of a huge weekend of racing planned at Oxford Plains Speedway.

This year, “The Night Before The 250” promises to be the best yet. On Saturday night, August 24th, the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models will return to Oxford Plains Speedway for a 150 lapper, along with a 100-lap event for the Tour-Type Modifieds of the Tri-Track Open Modified Series. Drivers like Anthony Nocella, Andy Shaw, Ron Silk, Matt Hirschman, Woody Pitkat, Matt Swanson, Andy Jankowiak and more are all expected to compete at Oxford Plains in the Tour-Type Modified event.

“We are really excited to be running at Oxford Plains Speedway and are honored to have been invited by Tom Mayberry and his team to run on Oxford 250 weekend,” said series managing partner, Wayne Darling. “We know that the Tri-Track drivers and teams will put on a show worthy of this weekend.”

While the ACT Late Models will head back to Oxford Plains for the second time this season, one of the stalwart tracks of their schedule. A big field of ACT Late Models are expected at the 3/8-mile speedway, including Spring winner, Bryan Kruczek, and drivers competing for the championship like Rich Dubeau, Jimmy Hebert, Scott Payea and more.

In addition to ACT and the Tri-Track Open Modified Series, Legends, Street Stocks, Classic Lites and Wicked Good will all be in action “The Night Before The 250.’ The weekend actually gets underway on Friday night, August 23rd, featuring the PASS Modifieds, Legends, Street Stocks, Outlaws, Rebels, Cruisers, Bandits, Trucks, and 4-Cylinder Figure 8.

The entry list for the 46th Annual Oxford 250 is now over 50 with the additions of former 250-winner, Eddie MacDonald, as well as Ryan Green and Brandon Barker. Competitors will have the opportunity to race for one of the richest winner’s purses in asphalt short track racing, with $25,000 to win, plus an additional $25,000 in lap leader money. Last year’s winner, Bubba Pollard of Senoia, GA, took home over $28,000 for his efforts in becoming the first southern driver to win the Oxford 250 since 1983. While no one in the last two decades has led more than Joey Polewarcyzk’s 205 laps in 2012, if a driver could somehow manage to lead all 250 laps, they would take home $50,000 for the win.

Entry forms and the complete weekend schedules for the 46th Annual Oxford 250 and the Lanier National 200 at Lanier Raceplex in Georgia are available at ProAllStarsSeries.com.
