Sydney Speedway Announces Triple Crown for Sportsman Races May 3, 2022 Regional SYDNEY, NS – Sydney Speedway is excited to unveil a Late Model Sportsman Triple Crown that will tie in the trio of Sportsman races at the quarter-mile bullring in 2022. The Late Model Sportsman Triple Crown will begin on Saturday, May 28 with a 100-lap feature, continue on Saturday, August 6 with the AutoWorld Maritime Allstar Sportsman Series (MASS) Robby’s Towing 100 and conclude on Saturday, October 1 with the annual Season Finale Sportsman 100. The three races will look to build on the success from the soft launch event by new management held in October 2021 at the facolity. Each race will pay a minimum of $1,000 to win. While the payout for the AutoWorld MASS race has yet to be announced by Series officials, the May 28th and October 1st races produced by Sydney Speedway will pay a minimum of $75 to start with tow money being offered for teams travelling from beyond Truro to those two races. These are minimum race payouts and could grow prior to race day. A full breakdown of those race purses for May 28 and October 1 will be available in the Competitor Package for the track which is expected to be ready by mid-May. Building rules for these three races will follow the AutoWorld MASS rules package. As an added bonus, points will be kept for the three races and the best driver over the three race series will receive a $1,000 bonus. Second in points will receive an added $500 and third will pocket $250. These three bonuses are above and beyond individual race pays and are available to the top three drivers who compete in all three races. The final bonus will be available to a driver if they sweep all three races. Should a driver win all three feature events in the Late Model Sportsman Triple Crown, they will receive an additional $1,000. If a driver takes the checkered flag first in all three races, their total in winnings would be a minimum of $5,000 before any additional contingency awards, purse increases or tow money. Sydney Speedway will race a handful of times in 2022, kicking off with the first leg of the Late Model Sportsman Triple Crown on Saturday, May 28 at 2 pm. The Mini Stock, V6 Thunder and Bandoleros will play support to the Late Model Sportsman. Adult grandstand admission price for the Late Model Sportsman Triple Crown Race One is $20 (aged 19 and up), Youth 11 to 18 years of age are $10 each with children aged ten and under admitted to the grandstands free of charge. Pit admission is $30 and is restricted to those 18 years of age and older, or aged 14 to 17 with minor waiver form signed. A practice day for teams will be held on Saturday, May 14 from 10 am to 6 pm. Pit admission is $10 per person.
