GEARY, NB – The Speedway 660 25th Anniversary Season continues on Saturday, August 18th with Fan Appreciation Night. Not only will all four Speedway 660 house divisions put on a show as they fight for valuable championship points with two point races remaining, fans will have the chance to meet their favorite drivers, see the cars up close and win a number of door prizes throughout the evening. Fans will be able to meet their favorite drivers with an on-track autograph session beginning at 5:30 pm with racing beginning at 6:30 pm.

After a two week break, the RE/MAX East Coast Elite Realty Pro Stock division will resume their tight championship battle. Dave O’Blenis (Boundary Creek), the five time Pro Stock division champion, has a one point lead over sophomore driver Ryan Messer (Harvey). Messer has championships in every stock car discipline he has raced leading to his Pro Stock debut last year. Should they stumble, Greg Fahey (St Stephen) and Brent Roy (Hanwell) sit only 17 and 29 points behind the championship battle with just two point races remaining. Ashton Tucker (Lyttleton), 30 points out of O’Blenis, completes the top five in the standings. All five at the top of the championship chase have won at least one feature event this season and will make for an excellent showcase to the finish of the season.

With two races to go in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman division, Drew Greenlaw (Eastport, ME) and Curtis Collins (Saint John) are hoping to settle this championship battle amongst themselves. Greenlaw was in the same place last year and he battled back and forth with John Rankin (St. Martin’s), only to be edged out by Rankin on the final race day of the year. The 2018 Firecracker 150 winner has a six point edge on the sophomore Collins heading into Fan Appreciation Night. The O’Blenis sisters, Courtney and Alexandra, are 22 and 24 points back and will need to make tracks in the final two races if they want to crack into the champagne on Night of Champions. Jacob Logan (Harvey) sits fifth in the standings, 39 points off the leader Greenlaw.

It remains a four horse race in the DMR Auto Sales Street Stock division but there is a new leader of the pack. With help from a feature win last Saturday, Shawn Hyslop (St. Stephen) vaulted his way to the top spot in the championship hunt. His lead is two points, or the difference in one feature race position, over last week’s leader Riley Goodwin (McAdam). Only seven points back is feature win leader in the class Justin Cole (Harvey) and falling back to 16 points off the mark is Roger Slocum (Chipman). The 30-lap feature and 10-lap qualifiers will be key on Saturday night to set the stage for Night of Champions on August 25th.

Bryan Suttie (Keswick) leads the three way tug of war for the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters championship with just two races to go. Brody Levesque (Fredericton) took home another feature win last Saturday and pulled himself to within one point of Suttie for the championship lead. Scott “Bat Hubby” Kennie (Fredericton) finds himself just six points away from what would be his first championship. The class sees the most intriguing racing on a Saturday night at Speedway 660 and with some of the highest car counts of any class in Geary, the chances for this championship battle to turn unpredictable are high over the final two weeks.

Returning for 2018, children aged 15 and under will be admitted to the grandstands for free to every stock car event at Speedway 660. The admission structure makes it easier for families to attend race events at the track and received positive feedback from fans when implemented mid-season in 2017.

Adult grandstand admission price for Saturday evening’s Fan Appreciation Night is $14 (aged 16 and up). Pit admission is $16 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Tickets are available at the gate on race day. Pit gates for competitors will open at 1pm, grandstand gates open for spectators at 5pm, the on track meet and greet autograph session begins at 5:30pm with racing getting underway at 6:30pm. A complete race day format will be available via Speedway660.com later in the week.

Fans are reminded that SpeedWeekend 2018 tickets and campsites are now available. An order form for both can be found on the front page of Speedway660.com or on the SpeedWeekend page on the website.
