Speedway 660 Officials Postpone Ricky Bobby 150 to 2022 October 12, 2021 Regional GEARY, NB – Management at Speedway 660 has made the difficult decision to postpone the DMR Auto presents the Ricky Bobby Street Stock 150 to Spring 2022. The decision was not an easy one but surrounds COVID-19 “circuit breaker measures” in surrounding regions of the Province putting a hindrance for teams and fans alike traveling to Speedway 660 for the weekend. While Geary is not in one of the “circuit breaker” regions of the Province, several teams and fans call the parts of New Brunswick under these restrictions home. There are certain restrictions the track could put in to make the event happen but for an event with the impact that the Ricky Bobby 150 has, the track and organizers of the event want everyone to enjoy the event and get a full experience from the weekend. With that, along with the interest of public safety and to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the track has decided to cancel the event for the weekend. The 2021 edition of the DMR Auto presents the Ricky Bobby Street Stock 150 will be run at the beginning of the 2022 racing schedule, with a date to be announced in the coming months as preparation begins for the new season. All purse monies, including lap bonuses and contingency awards totaling approximately $15,000 will be carried over to the running of the event in Spring 2022. The 2022 edition of the Ricky Bobby Street Stock 150 will be run at the end of the year, effectively bookending the year with major Street Stock events in the Geary woods. Unfortunately, with the announcement of the premature end of the 2021 season, the championship point chases have come to an end. Speedway 660 would like to congratulate Alexandra O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB – Late Model Sportsman), Riley Goodwin (MacAdam, NB – DMR Auto Street Stock) and BJ Gillespie (Harvey, NB – Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters) on their 2021 track championships. Any news on a 2021 season celebration and 2022 rules meetings will be COVID-19 restrictions pending and will be announced when information is available.
