GEARY, NB – Management at Speedway 660 are excited to present their 2016 schedule of events featuring 19 race dates from May until September.

The season will open on Sunday, May 15 at 2 p.m. with the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener, featuring action in the Re/Max Group Four Pro Stock, Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman, DMR Auto Sales and Service Street Stock and Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter divisions. The quartet of divisions will comprise all Weekly Point Racing cards throughout the season while they will appear on a rotating basis during special events throughout the year.

The first two events, the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener and the popular Kids Day, will be run on successive Sunday afternoons in May before the schedule shifts to Saturday evenings at 6:30 p.m. The Saturday evenings will be kicked off on May 28 with Regular Point Racing before shifting into high gear with the Best of the Best Pro Stock 150 on Saturday, June 4. The date for the event may be earlier than recent years, but with major Pro Stock and Super Late Model regional touring series sitting idle that weekend, the race is expected to draw big names from both sides of the border in Atlantic Canada’s first major Pro Stock race of the season.

The Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman division will see two extended features within the season with the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 125 on Saturday, June 18 and the Firecracker Sportsman 150 on Saturday, August 6. The DMR Auto Sales and Service Street Stock class will highlight the Saturday, July 9 card with an extended 75-lap main event. The popular Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters will be centre stage on Saturday, August 13 with a 40-lap feature.

The Capital City Auto Parts Enduro Series is back once again with a three race point series on the 2016 schedule. They will kick off their season on Sunday, June 12 at 2 p.m., stage their annual night race on Saturday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m. and cap off the season on Monday, September 5 at 2 p.m. All races are 200-laps in length. The building rules for the Enduro class have changed to a “Front Wheel Drive” only division, meaning any front wheel drive vehicle will be eligible for competition in 2016. In addition, former driver eligibility requirements have been lifted, which means fans can expect to see some of the Saturday night stock car stars mix it up with the Enduro drivers throughout the season.

The season culminates with Speedweekend on the Labour Day long weekend. The event kicks off on Friday, September 2 with a corn boil and concert in the infield of the track. The racing action roars to life on Saturday, September 3 with the Sportsman 150 headlining the card. The boys and girls of the Pro Stock division will shine on Sunday, September 4 with the Pro Stock 250. Speedweekend brings the best talent in the region to Speedway 660 to lay it out on the line in the final race weekend of the season.

In addition to the weekly program at Speedway 660, the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will make its annual stop on Saturday, July 2 for a 100-lap feature. The series visits five race tracks in Atlantic Canada, holding 12 race events. The series was won in 2015 by Antigonish, Nova Scotia’s Donald Chisholm.

As an incentive to drivers participating in the full regular point racing schedule, a complimentary pit pass for Saturday and Sunday of Speedweekend will be given to drivers that keep 100% attendance for their division throughout the regular season.

“This is a way to reward our full-time drivers on the biggest racing stage in the Maritimes and as a way to show appreciation for their support throughout the year,” said Max Roy of Speedway 660 on the new program. “We are very proud of the drivers and teams that support Speedway 660 and put on the incredible show fans come to expect every Saturday night. We are pleased to be able to give back to them for their support.”

Individual race promotions and additional information on each event will be announced as the respective events draw closer.
