The gala awards dinner was held in New Glasgow where winners were announced for various categories as selected by Destination Eastern & Northumberland Shores (DEANS). “We are pleased to be recognized as a top tourism destination in Northeastern Nova Scotia,” said Paul McLean, general manager of Riverside International Speedway, upon accepting the award. The CEO Award – Chief Experience Opportunity is presented to a tourism sector entity which has been steadfast on the regional tourism and cultural scene leading the way as an example of excellence. Judges considered commitment, inspiration, business achievement, community involvement, and length of service in making their selection. The management of Riverside International Speedway would like to congratulate their fellow nominees as well as all the other award winners at the event. Riverside International Speedway kicks off its 2016 season on June 11 with the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 150 for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour along with the Highland Home Building Centres 50 for the NAPA Sportsman Series. Advance tickets for the Ron MacGillivray 150 will be available in mid-May. There will be plenty of free parking as well as free non-serviced camping for self-contained RV’s. Riverside International Speedway, a 1/3-mile high banked asphalt oval, is located in James River, between New Glasgow and Antigonish, at exit 30 off Trans-Canada Highway 104.
