Recap – Atlantic Stock Car Championship’s at Centre for Speed October 6, 2020 Regional SHEDIAC, NB – Saturday, October 3rd kicked-off the Maritime’s Original Post-Season Race at the 21stAnnual Atlantic Stock Car Championships and the 25th Anniversary of Canada’s Fastest 3/8th Mile oval here at Shediac’s CENTRE For Speed. In the first feature race of the weekend, it was Colton Noble of Nova Scotia in his #03 machine pulling the rabbit out of the hat to take the 2020 Atlantic Championship in the Bandolero Division while points leader #0 Tanton Wooldridge of Summerside, PEI took second and the CFS 2020 Points Championship. Halifax’s #71 Chase MacKay fought hard to round out the podium and finish in third. The #99 of Dave Matthews from Nine Mile River, NS put on another incredible show as a loyal competitor to the Centre that crowned him as the triumphant Atlantic Champion in Mini Stocks as well as 2020 CFS Points Champion in Mini Stock. Mike Edwards out of Penobsquis, NB in the #89 was runner up with #67 Cody Byrne of Orwell Cove, PEI taking third. Deven Smith #145 of Halifax, NS showed his Smith Family Racing pedigree and had fans on the edge of their seat during another great race to remember earning himself the respected Atlantic Championship title in the 4 Cylinder Division. Runner up was the #198 of Steve Matthews from Fall River, NS and in third was S660 competitor #32 Darren Wilcox of Fredericton, NB. In the Street Stock 75 lapper (sponsored by Big Poppas Motorsports, Gass’ Clover Farm, Taylor Built Rentals, Kevin Quinn Remax Realtor, Discover Kia, Oyster Bed Esso, Winsloe Irving, and Dalziel’s Collision Center) it was Big Bad Brad MacLean of Black River, NB in his lucky #13 who, after multiple lead changes and with 2 laps to go, made an incredible pass on the #68 of local Grand-Barachois driver Michael Cormier to regain the lead that he had lost just 3 laps prior and win the Atlantic Championship. MacLean was also crowned 2020 CFS Points Champion for the Division. Wrapping up the first day of the 21st Annual event was the highly-anticipated Sportsman 125 presented by Chateau Properties. In a close fought battle with multiple lead changes, #10 Brady Creamer from Miramichi, NB had a fantastic finish taking home the victory with perennial podium finisher and former Atlantic Champion, Jacob Logan #37of Harvey, NB taking home second and CFS 2020 Points Champion, #92 Pete Miller of East Gore, NS finishing a strong third. Fans were treated to consolation rounds in each of the Street Stock and Sportsman divisions where fields were inverted from Saturday finish and competitors took another shot at the checkered flag. In the Bandolero consolation round, once again it was the #03 Colton Noble coming from the back to take the win in the second of two Bandolero races on the weekend. However, it was the #0 of Tanton Wooldridge finishing second who secured the overall 2020 CFS Points Championship in the Bandolero Division. The #81 of Nate Singer fromKennetcook, NS got his first podium finish of the weekend by finishing third. After a disappointing finish for #68 Michael Cormier in the Street Stock and Sportsman Championships which were held on Day 1, the local driver roared back in true competitive style to take the win in the consolation round! #54 of veteran Rick Casholfrom Saint John, NB had a great weekend running strong in both events and finishing second in the consolation round, while the sleek #28 of Tom Nicholls from Charlottetown, PEI finished his season with his first podium finish in third in a season dedicated to long-time PEI racer Emmett Donahue. In the Outlaw Fours division, #67 Cody Byrne finished off the Championships on a high note with a win while #99x Matt Watson of Miscouche, PEI took second place. It was CFS regular, #99 Dave Matthews rounding out the podium in third. Local driver #00 Michael Cormier of Grand Barachois, NB secured his second victory on the day to complete his vindication with a strong showing in the Sportsman Division to hold off Day 1’s Atlantic Championship winner #10 Brady Creamer of Miramichi, NB who finished second. A perennial podium finisher at the Championships #37 Jacob Logan of Harvey, NB took the final podium position in third. In the big feature of the day and top division of the weekend, it was another strong showing from Island competitors with Charlottetown, PEI’s Robbie McEwan in the #40 taking home the victory and the title of Atlantic Stock Car Champion at the 21st Annual Atlantic Stock Car Championships. In second, it was former Atlantic Champion Jonathan Hicken of Brudnell, PEI in his #5 machine. The #40 and #5 traded leads multiple times throughout the feature which had seven lead changes in the 150-lap contest. Taking the final podium position, it was the #53 of Hantsport, Nova Scotia’s Cole Butcher.
