The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will make its only visit to Prince Edward Island this season on Saturday for the Parts for Trucks 100 at Oyster Bed Speedway, round seven of 12 for the Maritime based touring series. Qualifying for the Parts for Trucks 100 gets underway with Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials at 5:10 PM, racing will begin 6:00 PM. John Flemming (Halifax, NS) who won this race last year also leads the current point standings with a 16 marker lead over Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB). Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) is still in the championship chase holding down the third spot, followed by 2013 Exide Rookie of the Year Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) and Island driver Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) who round out the top five respectively. Four Island drivers currently hold top 10 positions in the chase for the Parts for Trucks championship. Proude leads the way in fifth spot but is followed closely by Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE) in sixth. Hicken is the only Island driver with a win this season, taking home the checkered flag back in May at Petty International Raceway. Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) is currently eighth in points and Kent Vincent (Westmoreland, PE) is tenth. Terry Dougay (Albany, PE) sits just outside the top ten in 12th position. All five of these drivers know how to get it done on their home track and all will be looking to impress at the Parts for Trucks 100 on Saturday evening. Also joining the field will be a stable of part-time Island drivers hoping to run well on their home turf. Chris Hughes (Brackley Beach, PE) returns to the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour in the Big Poppas Motorsports #63 car. Hughes is one of the most successful Island drivers in series history, recording 42 top-ten finishes in his career, but is still chasing that elusive first victory. Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall, PE) is a feature winner on the series in 2013, while Robbie MacLean (Winsloe, PE), Joel Hickox (Cornwall, PE) and Robbie MacEwen (Sherwood, PE) will all be in search of their first Tour victory. All five have vast racing resumes in the weekly classes at Oyster Bed Speedway and will look to translate that experience into Saturday’s Parts for Trucks 100. Tickets for the Parts for Trucks 100 will be available at the gate on race day (cash only). Adult admission is $25.00, $30.00 for pit entry. Youth tickets (8-15yrs) are $10.00, children 7 and under are free.
