Chisholm, 19, from Port Williams will drive the #19 car out of Ontario’s Wight Motorsports stable in the Clarington 200 with Jani-King Canada as his primary sponsor. “This is a dream come true,” said Chisholm. “We’ve worked long and hard to get here and the excitement of finally racing in Canada’s premier stock car series is indescribable. I have so many people to thank who have helped me get to this point in my racing career. We had a great test at CTMP a couple of weeks ago; I can’t wait to hit the track this weekend and, hopefully, improve even more on the P8 spot where we finished the test.” Chisholm was indeed a notable P8 overall in the NASCAR Canada Series pre-season test at CTMP road course earlier this month, besting many well-known series veterans in his first-time ever in a NASCAR Canada Series race car. While Chisholm has excelled at both oval and road racing in his career to this point, he is particularly adept at road racing. At 19, the Engineering student at Acadia University already has a decade of racing on his resume. Chisholm started racing at the age of eight, driving Bandoleros and go-karts – the foundation of his road racing expertise; Canadian Karting News soon recognized his talent. It wasn’t long before he moved to Legends Cars winning multiple championships and races in Canada and the United States. In 2023 he ran his first full-bodied full-size pro stock/late model stock car race competing against top drivers in this region and finished an impressive third place. His desire to advance his racing career has grown alongside his climb through the ranks over the past decade. In the fall of ’23, Danny and his father, Scott, started looking into what it would take for Danny to move into the NASCAR Canada Series, subsequently securing partnerships with Wight Motorsports and Jani-King Canada for this weekend’s race. Wight Motorsports has fielded cars in the series for many years and for notable drivers including series champions Andrew Ranger and Treyton Lapcevich. “We’re incredibly excited to have Danny behind the wheel for the first NASCAR Canada race of the season at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park,” said David Wight, owner of Wight Motorsports. “After our test session, it was clear that Danny’s talents are exceptional and we couldn’t be more impressed. We’re confident that our team is poised for success on the track.” Jani-King Canada is also excited to partner with Danny for his NASCAR Canada debut. “On behalf of the Jani-King Canada team and our franchise partners coast-to-coast, we are excited to team up with Danny Chisholm for his NASCAR Canada debut,” said Nathan Oxford, Jani-King Canada. “The partnership is about more than just racing, it’s about passion, commitment, and striving for excellence. All the best to Danny for a successful season.” The NASCAR Canada Series season opener at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on Sunday is part of the Victoria Day Speedfest weekend at the renowned facility. The Clarington 200 is on the 3.957km (2.459-mile), 10-turn road course. It will be broadcast live on TSN+ in Canada and FloRacing in the United States, and tape-delayed on TSN. Start time is 2 p.m. (local, ET), 3 p.m. Atlantic. Sponsorship opportunities are still available with Chisholm Motorsports for Danny Chisholm’s 2024 race season.
