Racers with the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will see just one type of qualifying for the 2016 season, with heat races determining the starting lineup for the feature. Since the inception of the series in 2001, there were time trials and heat races.

Heats in 2016 will be 15-laps, up five from previous years, and the lineup for heats will be set by a random draw during the drivers meeting. The draw order will be set by the finishing order from the previous race first, then by points standings, then by theĀ orderĀ cars entered the pits for the event.

The number of heat races and cars that transfer to the feature will be determined by the number of cars that enter each event.

As in the past, the series reserves the right to implement alternate qualifying procedures.

The format sees a change from what has been the norm since the inception of the series in 2001, that of two rounds of qualifying with time trials and heat races; the new format is explained in more detail in the 2016 Maritime Pro Stock Tour Procedures manual.

The series kicks off its season May 21 at Scotia Speedworld with the Lucas Oil 100.
