HALDIMAND, ON – Two-time Daytona 500 winner Sterling Marlin is the latest driver to file entry for Jukasa Motor Speedway’s epic Canadian Short Track Nationals 200-lap pro late model event scheduled for September 1 and 2. To-date 50 teams have registered for the event from six provinces and five states.

“When a promoter puts this type of effort into an event – it absolutely makes waves all over the industry,” says Marlin. “There are Late Model guys all across the country right now trying to find a way to get to Canada for this race. Everyone’s talking about it”

“Our team is always excited for the chance to get out on the road again and take on a new racetrack,” continues the Fairgrounds Speedway Hall of Fame member. “From all the photos and videos I’ve seen, it looks like they’ve put together an incredible facility up there, and I’m looking forward to being a part of this race and interacting with the Canadian fans”

Marlin has spent much of the last decade focused on his Pro Late Model program and believes events like the Canadian Short Track Nationals are beneficial for both the Pro Late Model division as well as the Short Track industry as a whole.

“We need more races like this,” says the Tennessee-based star. “These cars can put on some of the best racing you’re ever going to see. So, when you put up a big purse for them, you’re going attract a big car count and the fans are going to get their money’s worth. The more events that we can have like this – the better off we’re going to be. There was never any question on whether our team was going to be supporting this deal or not. As soon as we heard about it, we knew we were making the trip to Canada for it.”
