The Maritime League of Legends Tour returns to Scotia Speedworld Saturday for the Farrell’s Excavating Limited 50. The race is the second of three stops at the 3/10-mile oval and is sixth of 10 races on the 2018 schedule. Racing on Saturday, which features the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour’s Toromont Cat 250, begins at 5 pm. At the halfway point in the 2018 season, it is Fall River, Nova Scotia’s Shelby Baker with a 30-point lead over second place Emily Meehan of Rawdon, Nova Scotia. Baker scored his third second-place finish in five races last Saturday at Oyster Bed Speedway. Baker has one win at his home track during the Weekly Racing Series at Scotia Speedworld but is still searching for his first Tour win of 2018. Meehan is the winningest driver in the Weekly Legends division at Scotia Speedworld this year with three wins. Adam Meehan (Rawdon, NS), he will be behind the wheel of the No. 12 Farrell’s Racing Legend this Saturday night. As if the pressure of trying to win the Farrell’s sponsored event wasn’t enough, Meehan takes over the car that is third place in points following four impressive top six performances put in by Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow, NS). Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois, NB) sits fourth in the standings and leads the Fleet Brake Atlantic Rookie of the Year Award after five races. Cormier has a comfortable lead in the freshman battle but can’t rest in the overall championship chase as only two points back sits Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS). One of MacDonald’s two Tour wins on the year came at Scotia Speedworld. With Scotia Speedworld being the home track for Legends Cars in the Maritimes, it is expected that a number of Scotia Speedworld regulars will take on the task of racing the Farrell’s Excavating Limited 50. Tylor Hawes (Porter’s Lake, NS) scored a big win earlier this season, Nathan Blackburn (Timberlea, NS) is coming off an impressive podium performance one week ago, Gary Bordage (Dartmouth, NS) has been improving every night out and will look for a big night on Saturday. Reigning Scotia Speedworld track champion Paul Goulden (Shelburne, NS) will hope to defend his home turf while Shane and Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville, NS) are searching for their first victories heading into the Toromont Cat 250 weekend. Nicole Richard (Belnan, NS) has had a successful rookie season so far and will look to pick up more seat time on Saturday. They will race with Tour regulars Kevin MacDonald (Antigonish, NS), Kyle Shipley (Spryfield, NS) and Jeff Cruickshank (Hantsport, NS) for the first place hardware. The Farrell’s Excavating Limited 50 is the second of three stops by the series at Scotia Speedworld in 2018 and is a part of the track’s Toromont Cat 250 weekend. Pit gates for Legend competitors open at 12 pm and grandstand gates open at 2pm. Racing action gets under way with qualifying races for both feature events at 5 pm.
