Maritime League of Legends at Oyster Bed Speedway on Saturday June 15, 2017 Regional The Maritime League of Legends Tour will resume their 2017 season Saturday evening on Prince Edward Island. The Reliable Motors 50 presented by ToyMaster at Oyster Bed Speedway is the second round of the 10 race series and the first stop to Canada’s smallest province. Racing is scheduled to begin on Saturday, June 17 at 6 pm. For the first time in his career, Adam Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS) will lead the Maritime League of Legends into battle as the point leader on the series. Meehan scored his first Legend win in the Atlantic Tiltload 50 at Scotia Speedworld on May 20th in a commanding performance over multiple time INEX Eastern Canadian Masters champion Paul Goulden (Shelburne, NS) and reigning Maritime League of Legends champion Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL). The competitive trio will be among well over a dozen competitors heading across the Confederation Bridge for Saturday’s Reliable Motors 50 presented by ToyMaster. In the past two seasons, the high banked oval in Oyster Bed Bridge has hosted one annual stop for the Maritime League of Legends Tour in August. Both the 2015 and 2016 editions of the mid-Summer event have been won by Jolicure, New Brunswick’s Cory Hall. Hall enters the second round of 2017 on the series after being sidelined during the Atlantic Tiltload 50 with electrical gremlins in his #08 G&S Racing Legend. The Reliable Motors 50 presented by ToyMaster will mark the 2017 season debut for four drivers. Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS), Will Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL) and Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS) have all raced south of the border in the current calendar year but will make the Legend debut at home on Saturday. Braden Langille’s car was driven by Riley Halverson (Kannapolis, NC) at the Atlantic Tiltload 50 in May while Josh Langille, no relation to Braden, will drive the car Arnie Spinney (Coldbrook, NS) piloted at Scotia Speedworld last month. Will Farrell is the brother to Waylon and will make his first start since racing at Southern National Motorsports Park (NC) in April. Gary Dunning (Charlottetown, PE) will make his first start of the Summer on Saturday night at Oyster Bed Speedway. Dunning will look to defend his home turf as the only Prince Edward Island driver pre-registered for the event. Other drivers expected to compete for the Reliable Motors 50 presented by ToyMaster include veteran drivers Justin MacNeill (Bedford, NS), Emily Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS), Darren Sherwood (Cambridge Narrows, NB), Tony Gaudet Jr (Milford Station, NS) and Rookie of the Year contenders Kody Quinn (Sydney, NS) and Kyle Shipley (Spryfield, NS). More competitors are expected to be added to the entry list as the event draws nearer. Pit gates open for competitors in the Reliable Motors 50 presented by ToyMaster on Saturday, June 17th at 2:30 pm; with racing beginning at 6 pm. Tickets are available at the gate on race day.
