Legends Tour Returns to Petty This Saturday As Part of Big Show July 11, 2019 Regional The cars and stars of the Maritime League of Legends Tour return to the track on Saturday evening, July 13th for the R&D Performancenter 50 at Petty International Raceway. The River Glade, New Brunswick oval will host the third round of ten on the INEX sanctioned Legend car touring series. The R&D Performancenter 50 is a part of a card that also includes the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour racing in the Irving Oil 150. Racing begins at Petty International Raceway on Saturday evening at 6 pm. The Maritime League of Legends Tour heads to Petty International Raceway following a caution free performance during the Island ICF Incorporated 50 at Oyster Bed Speedway last Sunday. Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS) raced to his first win of the 2019 season ahead of Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS) and sophomore driver Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow, NS). Seventeen drivers checked in to compete in the event, which also served as the first INEX National Qualifier in the Maritimes. Langille, who was closing on MacDonald near the end of the Island ICF Incorporated 50, will enter Petty International Raceway with the point lead based off the strength of two podium finishes to kick off 2019. His lead is only 11 points on MacDonald, with Emily Meehan (Rawdon, NS) one point behind MacDonald for second in the standings. Meehan, who has two top-five finishes to kick off 2019 and won this first event at Petty Raceway one year ago, is away this weekend and will hand the wheel of her No. 75 over to Wyatt McCulloch (Stewiacke, NS) on Saturday. McCulloch is a former Scotia Speedworld Bandolero champion and finished runner-up to Nathan Blackburn (Timberlea, NS) at the Halifax oval one week ago during their Weekly Legends program. Reigning Maritime League of Legends Tour champion Shelby Baker (Fall River, NS) and provincial favorite Darren Sherwood (Cambridge-Narrows, NB) complete the top five in the standings early in the season. The Rookie of the Year standings are led by Rustico, Prince Edward Island’s Devin Gallant by just nine points over Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia’s Devin Wadden. Of note, Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS), who won the Maritime League of Legends Tour Bandolero National Qualifier at Oyster Bed Speedway last weekend, finished fifth in his Legend debut with the Tour last Sunday at the Island oval. An eligible driver’s best seven finishes will count towards the Rookie of the Year Award in 2019. Please note that the Maritime League of Legends Tour and Petty Raceway support classes will not run qualifying heat races on Saturday. The R&D Performancenter 50 starting grid will be set by random draw. The R&D Performancenter 50 is the second of three consecutive races in three weekends in three different Maritime Provinces. Following Saturday, the Series will head to Nova Scotia’s Riverside International Speedway on Friday, July 19th for the Schooner General Contracting Maritime Legends Challenge as a part of the IWK 250 Super Weekend. Grandstand admission prices for Saturday’s events at Petty International Raceway are $30 for adults and $10 for youth aged eight to 18, while children seven years of age and under will be admitted free. Pit admission is $35 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Grandstand gates open for spectators at 4 pm with racing getting underway at 6 pm.
