Legends Tour at Petty Raceway Saturday Night August 22, 2019 Regional The Maritime League of Legends Tour heads back to the Province of New Brunswick for two races over the next two Saturday nights. First up is the second stop of the year to Petty International Raceway in River Glade, New Brunswick for the G6N Consulting Group 50 on Saturday evening, August 24th. The G6N Consulting Group 50 is a part of the 55th River Glade International. The eighth round of the Maritime League of Legends Tour gets underway on Saturday evening at 6 pm. After two rounds in Nova Scotia, Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS) continues to lead the Series standings but it is a closer fight than the last time the Series contested an event at Petty International Raceway in July. Langille, who has won four of the seven Maritime League of Legends Tour events in 2019 including last week’s race at Riverside International Speedway, only has a six-point lead to play with heading into Saturday. Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS), who was second to Langille at both the last Maritime League of Legends Tour appearance at Petty Raceway and last weekend’s race at Riverside International Speedway, will look to close down the gap with three races remaining. The two drivers have been close all season, winning all but one of the seven races on the Tour in 2019. Waiting for the top two to falter is Shelby Baker (Fall River, NS). The reigning champion sits 47 points behind Langille with just three races to go. While it will be a tall task for Baker to repeat, with the hard racing the top two have produced over the first seven races, anything can happen as they close in on the checkered flag at Scotia Speedworld in September. Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow, NS) rolls into Petty International Raceway and the G6N Consulting Group 50 as the top Young Lion in the yearlong Fleet Brake Atlantic Class Bonus chase. Rogers, in the No. 12 Maritime Car Wash Legend, is coming off a top-five finish at Riverside International Speedway and finds himself knocking on the door of the top five in the overall point standings with three races remaining in the Tour schedule. Rogers finished fifth in the R&D Performancenter 50 at Petty International Raceway in July. In addition to Rogers, Langille (Pro), MacDonald (Semi-Pro) and Brad Wadden (Hammonds Plains, NS; Master) lead their respective Fleet Brake Atlantic Class Bonus standings heading into the G6N Consulting Group 50 on Saturday at Petty International Raceway. The Rookie of the Year Award standings will tighten as the season nears its completion. With eligible rookie drivers able count their best seven towards the Rookie of the Year Award, the G6N Consulting Group 50 could be a turning point in the season for freshman competitors. Three drivers have emerged as full-time rookie contenders, with Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS) leading the point standings when their worst three finishes are dropped thus far in 2019. Chisholm has 326 points, with Devin Gallant (Rustico, PE; 308 points) and Devin Wadden (Hammonds Plains, NS; 300 points) well within striking distance with three races to go. Grandstand admission prices for Saturday’s G6N Consulting Group 50 at Petty International Raceway are $35 for adults and $10 for youth aged eight to 18, while children seven years of age and under will be admitted free. Pit admission is $40 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. The G6N Consulting Group 50 is a part of the 55th River Glade International Weekend, which is headlined by Saturday’s Cummins 200 for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. Racing action begins at 6 pm. The Maritime League of Legends Tour will close a busy month of August next Saturday night with a double bill of INEX racing action at Speedway 660 to open SpeedWeekend 2019. The INEX National Qualifier 50 for Legend Cars and the Tim’s Corner Motorsports Bandolero Blast will showcase INEX and Maritime League of Legends Tour racing to one of New Brunswick’s biggest stock car crowds on a Maritime Crown Jewel weekend. The Tim’s Corner Motorsports Bandolero Blast will also continue into Sunday with a second feature taking place on September 1st. Saturday, August 31st’s racing action gets underway at 5:30 pm with Sunday’s racing going green at 2 pm.
