Inaugural IWK 250 Tailgate Party to Feature Signal Hill June 16, 2016 Regional JAMES RIVER, NS – Canada’s east coast acoustic party band ‘Signal Hill’ will play at the inaugural IWK 250 Tailgate party on Thursday, July 14 at Riverside International Speedway. This concert is a value-added feature for fans and only available to those who have a ticket for a race event over the IWK 250 weekend (July 14 to 16). Signal Hill is a four-man acoustic rock band from St. John’s, Newfoundland, currently based out of Halifax. Since 1991 they have toured Canada and beyond, to such places as Russia and the Dominican Republic. They are winners of the best band and best cover band several times over in a reader poll conducted by The Coast. Signal Hill has been a mainstay in the east coast music scene for years. Their formula is simple: great songs that you know and love, solid, rich, four-part vocal and acoustic guitar arrangements, and miles and miles of energy. The concert will be held in the infield Thursday evening after the conclusion of the open practice session for Friday’s Highland Home Building Centres 100 for the NAPA Sportsman Series and for Saturday’s IWK 250 Presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. The practice session runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; the start time for the Signal Hill show is estimated to be approximately 9:30 p.m. Fans of all ages (who have an IWK 250 weekend race ticket) can watch the concert from the main grandstand; a licensed area will be available with admission to it governed by applicable regulations. The IWK 250 Tailgate Party will close a busy day at Riverside International Speedway, one that starts at 9 a.m. when the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience takes to the track providing fans the opportunity to feel the rush that is Riverside. Several packages are available to suit everyone; more information at www.racewithrusty.com. On Friday, July 15 it’s the Highland Home Building Centres 100 for the NAPA Sportsman Series and the Maritime Legends Challenge for the Upper Clements Park Maritime League of Legends. The weekend culminates Saturday, July 16 with the IWK 250 presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body. Advance reserved and general admission tickets for the IWK 250 weekend are now available. From now until June 30 the Early Bird Special Weekend Pass offers discounted rates and includes admission to the Signal Hill show Thursday night, the Highland Home Building Centres 100 on Friday and the IWK 250 on Saturday. Campsites for the IWK 250 weekend are going fast so please reserve your campsite ASAP so you are not disappointed (all sites must be reserved in advance, i.e. no drive ups and no overnight parking between July 13 and 17 without a permit). Besides being a great race the IWK 250 helps raise awareness and funding for the IWK Health Centre with more than $350,000 donated over the past nine years, in addition to a surprise one million dollar donation made by the Chisholm family (owners of the track) during opening ceremonies for the IWK 250 in 2013. Riverside International Speedway is recognized as a premier stock racing facility in Canada. The 1/3-mile high banked asphalt oval roars to action several times a year for special events. It is the home for eastern Canada’s only NASCAR event, and of the IWK 250 – widely known as the best stock car race in Canada. Located in James River, between New Glasgow and Antigonish, the facility is easily accessible at exit 30 on Trans Canada Highway 104.
