The Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends Tour rolls on to Riverside International Speedway on Saturday for the Cummins 50, round five of seven on the series, and part of the Wounded Warriors Canada 300 weekend for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.  The Cummins 50 is slated to go green at 6:15 p.m.

Paul Goulden (Shelburne, NS) continues to hold down the top spot in the series point standings with a 14 point lead over Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS). Butcher has a 21 point advantage on seventh place Cole Tanner (Shubenacadie, NS). Between the two youngsters include last year’s series runner-up Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS), reigning tour titlist Justin MacNeill (Bedford, NS) and fan favorite Emily Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS). With only three events remaining in the season, including this weekend’s Cummins 50, one small misstep by these five drivers could put them from championship contention to standing off the podium in October at the R&D Performancenter Road Course Challenge at Atlantic Motorsports Park.

Tanner is the leading rookie in the series with a 29 point advantage over Adam Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS).

This will be a home race for series regulars Craig Chisholm and Kevin MacDonald, who are in their first full time season with the series. The Antigonish drivers are expected to be joined by Kevin MacLean. Josh King of Port Hastings is also expected to make his first start in a Legends car on Saturday. King has previous racing experience in a Mini Stock car at both Scotia Speedworld and Cape Breton Miners Memorial Speedway.

Jeff Cruickshank (Hantsport, NS), Brad Brown (Williamswood, NS), Joey Lawson (Porter’s Lake, NS), two-time feature winner Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB), Arnie Spinney (Coldbrook, NS), rookie Dustin Tucker (Fredericton, NB), Danny Harvey (Lantz, NS) and Richie Nicholson (Harrietsfield, NS) are among those that will also look to take the checkered flag on Saturday.

The Cummins 50 marks the third race in a four race stretch within the month of August. Pit gates open for competitors on Saturday at 9:45 a.m. with practices at 12:30 p.m. and 1:35 p.m. Heat races will run at 2:35 p.m. with the Legends feature going green at 6:15pm.
